No other car will put a smile on your face as quickly as a Miata.
Bulletproof. My wife is currently driving a Miata on loan from a friend in the Porsche club to get proficient driving a stick. And what a sweet stick it is. A much more "forgiving" car than the 944. $2500 is a bargain. |

Yah, and after she learns how to drive it, and wants to move onto something else, you can turn it into a Spec (stock class) Miata racer! Fellow Pelican "Nader" has been running one in SCCA Spec Miata for a while, and has just about convinced me to pick one up too.

Hey Mr. Pants, some dude in an ITA-prepped Miata (ie. basically a stock motor) passed me on the track while I was hustling around in my Carrera. So I went out and bought one of my own, not sure what I was going to do with it. It was fun as hell during it's short life as a street car, but I can't describe how fun it is now as a Spec Miata racecar. Now I'm the one passing Carreras at the track on open lapping days (but getting passed by fellow SM racers). Check out www.miata.net for everything you want to know.
And Eric, are you coming on board or what? Six months is plenty of time to build up a car and get your racing license.

just don't be six-three with long legs like myself. your knees will get rather intimate with the bottom of the steering wheel. kinda sucks to like a car and not fit
