Is the Austrian Dream over?
Uh oh! Guess what leading candidate has just been accused for sexual misconduct?
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/02/recall.schwarzenegger/index.html Maybe it's time for the boring, over-analytical Green Party guy...

Is Bill Clinton going to show up and remind Californians that they think sexual misconduct is "a private matter" . . or maybe Hillary could show-up to explain it all.

If I were Davis, I'd definitely have Bill show up again. Bill, Jesse (not Ventura, obviously) Wesley, Al - even the poet, Ai...
This opens up a huge window of opportunity for Davis as he could say, "See, no one is purely qualified for Gov. That's why you need me, who already is Gov..." I wonder if McClintock's poll numbers might spike?

You're forgetting Paula Jones et al.
Monica wasn't the only Clinton "dalliance".

What shocks me is that a Republican has even admitted to having sex! Normally they're so uptight and prudish that they outsource that function.

Ahh, but Arnold is a "social republican;" that new and improved conservative that staunch Republicans like Dr. James Dobson utterly hates.

Whats really absurd is calling this guy a Republican...he keeps bringing up "programs"...he's married to Maria Shriver (aka Kennedy)...hello...
Funnier yet is when the reporters ask him if he'll ever run for President... Keep in mind that the Republicans of today are the Jack Kennedys of 40 years ago. I am very conservative, and am distancing myself more and more from Republicans, who I find to be increasingly more spineless and unwilling to stand up for their party's principals, if you can even figure out what they are half of the time. The Democrats of today are a bunch of Socialists. The same ones that habitually complain on this forum about job security, outsourcing, personal freedoms...are the same people who continually elect the "Democrat" whos answer to problems is to increase taxes on business, appease those that oppose the United States of America, and call themselves patriots by tying up traffic protesting.

The point I was trying to make was that Republicans are no longer what I consider "conservative" and that Democrats are no longer what I consider "liberal". I do not consider Arnold a "Republican", staying on topic with the original thread.
Protest and petition of the government is absolutely patriotic. Where it crosses the line is when it disprupts commerce, the ability for people to receive goods and services, and disrupts emergency services and planned functions. There are tactful ways to get your point across to our government (the largest and most effective being your vote which 50% of this country does not excerise) without chaining yourself to a bridge or a phone pole. I am well aware of the sacrifices made by the founding fathers of this country and the orignal signers of the constitution, I am forever grateful I live here becuase of what they did. I am aware that many were tortured, never saw their families again, died ill, flat broke, and heartbroken. I know that John Hancock has the largest signature on the Declaration of Independence as his head was wanted by the King of England; and this was a good way for John to flip him the bird. You can save yourself the effort of posting mindless links to prove your point. I could turn around and post 14 more in defense, but it would be a waste of your time and mine.

Well, B.G., one idea I have after reading your last post is fact votes are harder to come by because less people, as a whole, vote these days. Thus, a candidate who swings in the opposite direction of his party w/o abandoning his party's core values, can in some ways, attract elements of the other side while still sealing victory.
This technique was very effective for Clinton as he increasingly meandered to the right after his '92 election. If at all, the Republicans have learned that from Clinton. Core conservative values might have, at first glance, evaporated because of this left-leaning, but all that settles back into its proper place once the candidate is elected. Hence, Bush, for whatever he said about being a compassionate conservative, did not also mean he was going to abandon the party's core principles. Arnold's in a different boat. He's Hollywood, and would like to appeal to the masses of democrats in Southern California. Problem is the mass media located here is not buying him as a viable candidate. In fact, Arnold has stated the LA Times "hates" him. Well, look who broke yesterday's story about "groping" and today's story about he having said Adolf Hitler was a great man. Two heavy shells in one day all from the same source who "hate" him, and plus, whose editorial chief says Arnold has shown nothing that can determine him as able to be governor.

What a surprise that a Liberal paper like the LA Times should dislike a Repblican.
Boyz I'm gona say it...You don't have a clue as to whats goin on in the Repblican party. Remember in the late 70's when all those Born Agin Christians worked at the Grass Roots level and took over the Repblican party? Taking it away from the Fisical Conseratives but social Moderates of the Rockfeller/Nixon/Ford/Bush 1 wing. Those Born agins elected their poster boy Ronald the Great Regan to the Presidency a sop to the Modrates was Bush 1 as VP. Speed forward in time all those Born Agins have been in office so long now, they have reached committee chairmen status. Yet the people of the US are more tollerant than the Born Agins...they have begun to realize this and have grudginly given some ground to stay in power. Bush 2 talks the talk but he don't walk the walk of the Born Agins...after all Mommy and Daddy are Social Modrates...his sop to the conseratives in the party is Ashcroft, if Cheney had a choich between Haliburton and altruistic values he'd choose Haliburton. Look at what Bush has pushed and what he has kept quiet on...Tax Cuts...Abortion. The Repblican Party is becoming far more moderate or mainstream in it's views...look at what happened to Trent Lott, Bush didn't support him in his hour of need...he axed him...so much for another Social Conserative. The Democrats on the other hand seem he!! bent on Political Suicide...The Democrats during the 80's fielded Mondale, Dukakis as canidates...guys who couldn't even win a state they were so far Left...Clinton came in as a Southern Moderate to get elected...what was his first act in office...Gays in the Military....lead balloon, Health Care by Hilliary...lead Balloon.....1994 midterms complete repudiation of the Democratic party platform. Bill goes RIght from the advise of his ole Buddy Dick Hooker Morris and does nothing that a Pollster doesn't say is approved by the ratings for the next 6 years. In other words Bill doesn't stand for anything except to get elected again at any cost. Thats why so many of the true loyalists bailed on him after 1994. In 2000 the situational ethics win at any cost people lost the election to Bush 2. Speed forward to 2002 after 911 the people were in no mood for spend and burn social programs, we got a war to win! Now what does the Democratic party do they move even farther left...Nancy Pelliosi as Miniority Whip, John Dean as front runner? The Lefty's have taken over to give it another go...I wonder how many dead people are going to vote in 2004? In CA Davis has fixed the voter turnout problem he has just created a whole bunch of new Democratic voters...

Yeah, well if I were Hatch, I'd be careful; he's counting his chicks before they...um..."hatch."
Anyway, we'll see how "the Arnold" does in Sacramento. He better do well; he faces a Democratic Legislature/Congress, two Dem senators, and a crap-load of statewide problems. Plus, the Dem recallers like Willie Brown are chomping at the bit to hold another recall. Sheesh! Mel Brooks couldn't have written this any better.
