Just for you Nostatic!!!

I'm sure you've seen this before, but everyone here deserves the chance to see it:

oh GAWD that was hillarious! the video described my first Mac experience to a tee! nothing made sense on that machine. especially the alleged drag-and-drop and copying of files. I kept thinking 'what kind of an idiot designed this machine anyway?'

ronin 10-08-2003 01:43 AM

AND HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO RIGHT-CLICK WITHOUT A RIGHT BUTTON???

nostatic 10-08-2003 08:02 AM

that's pretty funny. Of course I could only get audio since windozeMedia didn't think I should be allowed to see picture too.

Mac isn't perfect but I'll take it. I could make a similar movie about the windoze experience, but it would just be a single frame of blue screen.

C'mon, Google found me the following in 15 seconds:

Back in the day, I used to work in the School of Art & Architecture's computer lab...

We took delivery of 14 IBM PCs and 16 Apple Mac Quadras (or something--they were 68k-based tower boxes, and that's all I can remember).

13 IBMs worked out of the box. One needed an OS re-install.

8 Macs had to be SENT BACK because they wouldn't even boot.

Ridiculous.

Of course, we'll see who has the last laugh when I get my Dell laptop later this week. I haven't heard many good things about their quality control these days.

Pretty funny. Of course the ultimate irony is that he cut it on a Mac, and it got finished.

I could tell you stories of how many problems we had with PCs in our various labs and how much better behaved the Macs were, blah blah blah.

It's like old 911s. You either get it, or you don't. Same thing with a Mac. No value judgement there...just reality.

Good luck with your Dell ;)

My reality is that I work on both a PC and Mac every day and have done this for about eight years now. Both boxes have lots of RAM, fast processors, dual-monitors and the same type and version of application software.
I try to judge on merit and the conclusion I have is for the job I do now, I surf the internet and do email on the PC and the Mac is where I do the work.

BlueSkyJaunte 10-08-2003 09:38 AM

Hey, it's not my fault, my co.'s running an "employee home pc program" and I get a Dell out of the deal. I'd've preferred an IBM notebook...they've always served me well. Damn near bulletproof.

Okay, first of all, that was so absolutely HILARIOUS, I was getting chest pains. Man, that is one of the funniest things I have yet seen on the Internet.

I hate Macs - and I used to use them, but I grew tired of having to deal with the sub-par poorly Mac-ported version of Microsoft Office, and just decided if I can't beat 'em, join them. Now I exclusively use IBM laptops, and believe me, they are much better than anything Apple puts out.

Apple/Mac stores in the malls drive me nuts too: holier than thou is the attitude of the salespeople -- and you know what? I ain't spending 3 or 4 grand for hacker-punk attitude.

Of course, they are the official computer of Hollywood and starving Starbucks screenwriters.

As for the guy in the video: instant Hollywood success. He should make about fifty dupes of his tape and farm out to every studio in town. That's how "South Park" was bought...

Thanks, Blue: you made my friggin' week! :D

Yeah Todd's right. No OS can protect the computer from a stupid user. PC's dominate the market and as such have a cornered a larger segment of the retarded. The reality is that if critical system files are corrupted (renamed, moved, deleted) then the OS will die. Windows finally figured that out and started "hiding" them from the mentally challenged. Most PCs, Mac's, and various Unix flavors humm along all day with little to no drama.

Look at cars. Some people insist on driving them while intoxicated and look at the result. Is it the car that is flawed here?
