I want to search better

For *advanced * search, it says to join words with AND, OR, NOT, etc. So, does it look like this: oilANDtemp or oil AND temp? I don't get much of any results of posts only containing the words *oil* and *temp* like a Google either way. What is the best way to find all posts containing 'oil temp'? Thanks, I've only been struggling with this for 2 years. You'd think I could figure it out!

In that kind of search I generally have better luck using quotation marks: "oil temp"

Nope, didn't work. I got posts with oil and posts with temp. Isn't there a way to get only posts with 'oil temp' as a phrase? This would greatly aid in getting to the core of the matter right away.

Call up "Dogpile". It is a metasearch engine. I have used it with great success for years. Very "user friendly".

I use quotation marks very successfully along with + and -

Nope again. I guess I should say that I'm looking for seach techniques for here on Pelican" BBSs. With quotations and + I still got everything that had 'oil' in it w/o regard to 'temp'

Milt you're 100% correct....IMO, the quotation mark option is disabled. This would be the proper (or most widely accepted) syntax to search on multiple words as one argument.

I also noticed a few other quirks with the search.
