It's gone, it's all gone...

I turned on the TV last night and flipped to my favorite channel, Speed, and I noticed, for some reason, that there were music videos playing. I looked up the program guide and it seems my local cable company has decided not to carry Speed anymore in favor of MTV2!

Now, I don't watch Speed much during the week (I'm not a fan of the left-turn club), but I'm usually glued to it on weekends. I doubt it would do any good to protest to the cable company, since the decision is already made. I worry about a world in which I can get the Food channel, the Home and Garden channel, and the Outdoor Wildlife channel, but not Speed!

EDIT: I was really looking forward to watching the last Rolex race from Daytona this weekend. Blast!

Call your cable provider & go up the food chain till you get an explanation, are there any other cable providers in your area? If so check them out or at least use them as leverage. Don't give up without a fight!

Hey Jon, I think we need to organize a letter writing campaign with the local PCA to get Speed back. We're not going to take this lying down!

Dump cable! Best thing I ever did about 5 years ago when they finally pushed me over the edge. Went with Dishnetwork for a couple of years, then switched to DirectTV, and continue to like it better. Why do you think that the cable companies are hurting so much these days! Satellite is significantly better in the majority of situations (like when you have fewer than 5 TVs in the house), and we have also found it to be cheaper.

I don't know what my weekends would be like without Speed TV!

D-I-R-E-C-T-T-V. You'll never go back. Wish this had some Porsche content so it would stay here.

But alas, there are not many sports car races on Speed any more. So, you're likely to see a Porsche once a month. There, I said P 2wice.

I have DirecTV. I'm going to cancel, actually, due to their recent draconian practice of suing people whom they have identified as having purchased smart card readers. As if purchasing a reader was a violation of law (it's not).

They're doing the same thing the RIAA is doing - creating an enemy where a customer once was.

Have you guys ever checked out some of the CARographies and such on the Fine Living channel? I've caught some nice Porsche ones. Some are light in content, but overall well produced (some better than what is/was on SPEED.

NASCRAP is everywhere ... flippin thru the channels last night I even caught a NASCAR Fans special on VH1. Will it ever end??

Hey... I work for DIRECTV and it's great. I would recommend it to anyone. Let me know if you are interested in the Friends and Family package. Lots of packages to choose from... I would recommend getting the DTV TIVO offer for $99 this way you can set it to record anything with Porsche in it. TIVO searches all channels looking for Porsche and then records it. DIRECTV and TIVO is the way to go...

Steve: Fremont "Time Warner" cable doesn't have speed either during the week but it is available sometimes on the weekends. Maybe COX will this also.

Hell, there's been such a reduction in good programing at SPEED, I wish my cable co *would* pull the plug on it. I'm planning to do it myself soon, if they don't.

Maybe the cable co was inundated with complaints about 24/7 NASTYCAR, and decided cartoon reruns would be more popular.

SPEED has gone for a *****. They have deserted and deceived the loyal viewers that supported them from the start.
If they keep on the way they have chosen, I hope they go down the toilet!

At my old apartment we got some big premium cable package, and one day I turned on the tv to watch a rally and got... Nothing!!! "You are not subscribed to this channel..." Bull****!!! I was just watching it two days ago!

I call the cable company, and it turns out they decided to mix up some of the packages, and of the two or three channels they took out of the package we had, speed was one of them. No warning, nothing. Bastards.

I showed them, though. Now I live alone, and don't even own a tv! Ha!

Oh, wait, I still can't watch rally...

Dan
