Just a posting to let other Pelican classified sellers know to be aware of some of the "BUYERS" on this board.
The following are copies of the emails between myself and a bidder responding to my (complete Weber setup) classified posting. I will edit out his name and phone numbers from his emails. Morning Roger, I am very intrested in you carb set up. I have a stock 3.0L and was wondering if the current set up is good or at least close to what I will need to use. Also I see you have dropped the price and are taking offers....would you accept $1400 for the complete package? Thanks for your time F--- H--- Michigan 586-...-.... 586-...-.... Hi F---, I will take $1500.00 for the whole set up. The best offer so far is $1450.00. Looking forward to hearing from you. All the best! Roger Hi Roger, I see you have posted that I am a "no show" kind of guy.....read the email below that you sent to me...I would have gladly paid you $1500 for them as I stated but when you tried to "play" me for an extra $50 I figured I would give as good as I got and call you bluff on the $1800..... too bad for all this hassle for $50..... Oh by the way i bought a complete set up for $968 from Ebay and that included all the 3.0L set up parts too..... Happy selling F--- ___________________________________________ Just another example of games some people like to play on this board, though it just might help someone else. BTW F---, hope the Karma on your carbs from Ebay is as good as the "deal" you and I had. All the best! Roger |

No show
The no show posting is still in my 911 classified posting for the Weber set up. And what's funny is, F--- wasn't the only flake on the deal. But he was the one that "had to have them" and then when I emailed the other bidders to tell them the set up was sold.
Then he wouldn't answer his emails. It was my fault for taking him at his word. A lesson learned for me! All the best! Roger |

Roger, I just read your "For Sale" thread, and it appears that you were trying to auction these carbs on Pelican, playing one buyer against another, etc....
![]() I think that a "warning" against the poster that you refer to is unwarranted, (this tactic should be reserved for serious cases of theft or fraud), maybe try ebay next time? All of the best to you as well. ![]()

does kinda seem like you were playing with the buyers. If someone makes an offer, and you say "I'll wait to see if someone beats it", then afaik that original offer is off the table...you declined it.

Clarification
Sorry boys, It's too bad I didn't save all the emails to make things completley clear to those on the outside. Here's how it went in a condensed version. As clearly stated in the ad $1600.00 OR BEST OFFER! I had 4 bidders all at the same amount, the first bidder upped the bid to $1500.00 as I emailed all the other bidders. F---
matched the $1500.00 of the first bidder. I emailed the first bidder and told him, I told him the set would be his if he sent payment right away, he said he would. I did not recieve any payment as promised. I emailed the other three bidders of the non payment and I was taking bids again. F--- emailed me again and said he would pay the orignal asking price on the first ad of $1800.00 if I would sell them to him. I emailed him back and told him they were his for that price. He said he would send payment and I would have it in two days. NO PAYMENT! I emailed him three times after HIS promise day of payment. F--- flaked and was playing a game as his email clearly states. As I said before, it is MY fault for taking a mans word as his bond. I will NEVER make that same mistake on this board again! Roger |

It can be tough juggling offers in that situation. Best is to set a firm price and state that the first Money Order in your mailbox or PayPal payment gets the set. Or as recommended use EBAY.

You still left some detail out.
First Fran you where NOT the only bidder and as it clearly was printed in both ads OR BEST OFFER! Your $1450.00 offer was aready bested and I had made the (sale?) to someone else before you made your $1500.00 offer and I told you of that. This is what was emailed.
Hi Fran, I'm sorry but I haven't gotten your messages. I do have a buyer already but haven't received his payment yet. If I don't get the payment by next Monday they're yours. Please check with me next week. Thanks, Roger Your reply: Roger, on reflection you were asking $1800.00.....is the figure still the magic number? Just a thought if it makes you change your mind. FRAN That's when YOU decided to play ME and offered me $1800.00 if I would sell them to you insted! On Tuesday 21 Oct at 9:33 pm pacific time I emailed you to accept your offer of $1800.00 as the other buyer had just emailed me that he wanted to make payment and could not send the full amount. I can print his email to me if you want proof. I emailed you after that again, and you did not respond until several days later. That's when you sent me your GOT YA email. Fran you have taken this much too personal. My original posting did not name anyone and was for general information. Only you have decided to respond, guilty conscience? As for me, I've said all I'm going to say. Roger |

you guys should take this offline. Seems to me that both parties missed the boat. Chalk it up to a learning experience on how not to buy and sell online and move on...
