Don King - American Psycho or hero?
Saw Don King in my hotel in NYC on Saturday. Impressive hair. He's one big dude, too.
He was utilizing superb grammar on his cellular phone at the time, I might add. A true American hero, that guy. Probably tips in $2 bills.

My first firm represented (and still represents) DK. I met him a number of times, and he is an articulate, likable guy -- he called be "Brother JP" whenever we saw each other w/ a big smile. He is a Big guy, too, and the first time I met him he was in a seersucker suit w/ a boater hat - that was a sight!
A number of litigator friends who actually worked for/represented him have incredibly funny stories about Don that convey his larger-than-life personality. However, this is a guy who "never staples a contract" and whom I would never, ever, want to have to trust. He is a predatory, amoral guy, even by the standards in that field of business. Hero - no, but an exemplar of remorseless capitalism. JP

When does a predatory amoral guy have enough wealth and power?
Answer is never, for him to give anything is for him to slip from being #1. Cause he feels someone else is just waiting to take his place if he does. But the day the MD tells him his number is up is the day he begins to think about it.

"Psycho" is too easy of a label, it dismisses so you can go back to your easy chairs and watch the Tyson/Jones fight. It does nothing for understanding the darkness within. For when you shine the light on the bugs within you would see just how pathetic they are.
