my friends and i are in an arguement concerning the ugliest car ever created. just wondering what you guys think? my vote is the AMC javelin. it looks like they got two different design team to come up with the front end and the back end. and they were not allowed to talk to each other.

Ahhh you mean the Gremlin???? How bout the worst bilt car the Chevy Vega? It is on par with anything the French ever bilt.

What was the 3-wheel French version? Porsche actually designed it while in French custody, they forced him apparently. It has been titled "Porsche's Revenge". UUUUgly... But I can't remember the name.

There are four on my list:

1970 Thunderbird (just plain fugly)
Pontiac Aztek (designed by a French woman for GM)
1960 Buick Invicta (so ugly it's cool)
Porsche Cayenne (incites laughter every time we see it!)

AMC Gremlin
Pontiac Aztek
BMW Z4
new BMW 7-series
Saleen S7
Honda Element

I have to say the Pontiac Aztek!

Which is saying a lot, there have been some ugly cars. But the Aztec really is horrible. I think it is the only car in history whose styling is inspired by a fake car (the Family Truckster from the Vacation movie).

Chevrolet Avalanche! Hideous!

As for the Javelin, those cars were really cool!

Aztek tops the list, definitely. The Z4 I actually expected to grow on me and it hasn't.

There was an article recently that discussed auto manufacturers' attempts to design a car with the intent of polarizing reaction -- by turning so many people off they believed they could guarantee a certain segment's purchase. Strange way of looking at it, but the figures cited in the article seemed to prove them right. Then again, you torture a number enough and it'll confess to anything.

The new BMW 7-series and Aztec, as already stated.

That new Chevy semi pick-up/ SUV thingy... the Z71 is it??????? Hideous, it doesn't know if it wants to be a pickup or an SUV. Take this off and put this on, give me a break. With the added plastic pieces it looks like a wana be Schwartzaneegger terminator vehicle. A Hummer thats it yeah...

YES. To me, this is the most over-styled car ever produced. It looks like the designers wanted it to stand apart from the McLaren F1 (which I think is a very graceful-looking car) and just kept adding more gills and slits until it finally bordered on ridiculous-looking. It looks like something a 14-year-old boy-racer would draw...
