Goodbye Everybody

Dear All ,

I am writing to you in order to announce my departure from the US. This will be my last opportunity to correspond with you for sometime. Boxes are packed and I will be leaving shortly. I would have let you know sooner, but circumstances dictated that this was not possible. An exiting new job opportunity was offered to me this week and I needed to make a quick decision in order to secure this new position. Those of you very close to me will know about my passion for the game of football and my talent and experience in managing football squads. I have decided to go and manage a football team ... I realise that this may come as a shock to some, but I have always harboured such a desire and I could not turn down this once in a lifetime opportunity to fulfil my personal dream. The team is based in northern Brazil. This is a very poor and remote area of the country with the nearest city being some 200 km away. Communications are primitive by western standards, the infrastructure antiquated and living standards basic. On top of this, the area suffers from torrential rainstorms. Despite all this I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. One of the main aspects of the job is to stay in close contact with the team, day and night. We will adopt an Italian style closed training camp regime with no outside contact, except when playing our games. This will give me ample opportunity to focus on individual players and the team as a whole. I am looking forward to the close and intense bonds that this will hopefully create. Both the players and myself appreciate that we must be prepared to give as well as receive. There is no postal service, telephone network or internet facilities so please do not waste your time attempting to contact me ...

It will be just me and the team.

Wish me luck!!!!

For those interested I have attached a team photo ...

I wish you the best of luck.
It sounds like you are taking on quite the lifestyle change.
Enjoy Brazil!

When you get back, I'm sure you'll have stores w/ which to regale us.

Keep your sense of humor, you're likely to need it quite a bit.

Best of luck,
JP

which town? got an old friend somewhere up north

CHILI 12-04-2003 10:08 AM

Wow, that's exciting. Sounds like a movie. I'm sure you'll have many many stories that sound like movies, when you get back. Good luck. We'll keep the poarch light on for ya!

Ok, how many of you are in my boat and feel small and petty when reading something like this. Here I am in my office and I'm complaining because the A/C is too cold. Erg! Puts things in perspective!

Funny, I thought you were describing where I live...in Alabama.

MMMMM.......Beautiful Brazillian Women:p You are lucky. I don't think there are too many 911's in South America, I wonder if Pablo Escobar's white 911 cab is still in Columbia. Good luck and have a safe trip.

Hoot! The pic wasn't attached...A friend sent me a similar gag some time ago...only he was joining a biker gang. The attached pic was a pack of babes, all topless, on bicycles...great joke.

Best of luck in your new adventure. The food in Brazil is great!
The mountains and the rainforest are beautiful in part of the world.
Vaya con Dios.

I think boston95 is joking. I believe that the "team photo" to which he refers is of the "Brazilian women's soccer team," which is a bunch of hotties.

svandamme 12-04-2003 12:31 PM

hot is an understatement when it comes to that team photo....
it turned me into a team player instantly :D

Why do I have a mental image of Fletch meeting Ben Dover in jail?

Someone post the picture - it is a public service...

OK, I'll do it then.

Link shows mighty wet t-shirt contest, and is thus not necessarily safe around children, wives or bosses:
