junking an old car?

Has anyone ever junked an old car? I've got a shell left an was wondering how to get rid of it. What's the norm?

Do you pay someone to come get it? Some auto salvage yards advertise "free" car removal.

But my car is pretty much stripped of anything salvagable so I don't even know if a junk yard would want it. The wheels are gone so I couldn't even tow it there.

At what point do junk yards stop wanting your car and you start having to pay them to come and get it?

You've described what they don't want to the T. I'd call around and see if a yard will take it for the metal scrap. However, a non-roller will make it somewhat costly.

They'll remove it free if it's complete and they can sell the bits. The scrap value of the shell < $10, so they have no incentive.

I loaded mine on the trailer and took it to a scrap steel yard.

No glass, no gas, no rubber, and they needed proof of ownership before they would take it.
