The doctor doesn't know what's wrong with me

[RANT]

I have a fever, body ache, burns when I pee, cold feet and palms of my hands. I went to the doctor and he told me to go get a urine sample, I did, came back, turns out there was blood in my pee:eek: :( so then he says I gotta go get a blood sample, go and come back and he looks at the results and is baffled. Then he has this evil witch medical assistant of his do a throat culture and she jams the ****ing swab down my red infectious throat until I cough and gag and spit all over the floor. He says my blood count indicates I either have the flu or a bad infection, maybe both. It doesn't help that when I haulk a loogie there's a little bit of blood in it either. I have no stuffy nose or coughing which is the wierdest part. So he adminsters a shot to my left ass cheek (driving home was almost impossible because I could barely clutch properly) prescribes some bioxin and something else and now I'm back at home after spending 2 hours in his office feeling less ****ty but still not happy b/c I have tickets to the Lakers/Mavs game tonight and I feel like ass. As of right now I plan on going and the doc said as soon as my prescription is filled to take 2 of each of the medication to "jump start" me on it and I should feel a lot better by tonight and almost perfect by the end of the weekend. Oh, I'm sure it also doesn't help that I have my accounting final on Wednesday and haven't studied at all. I was planning on showing up to the canyon run tomorrow, but who knows how I'll feel by then.

Maybe behind is safer.

Hope you feel better!

Antibiotics can be like pain killers, the first few doses will make you feel better but stay with them till the end otherwise you will create the mega bacteria which will be harder to kill the second time....

Feel better.

Amir, You haven't been hangin' with those little carpark hobags again, have you little brother? ;)

J/K, hope that you are feeling better very soon. You've got youth on your side, (quick healing), and follow the above advice about taking all of the antibiotics, even if you feel better. Plus get a flu shot when you heal if you can find one and haven't already. See you tomorrow if you feel up to it.

Sounds like pyelonephritis. Do you have fever? Flank pain?

Good thing you got the big dose. If you're not feeling better by morning, head to the E.R. This can be serious stuff.

Moses, You obviously know your medicine, are you an M.D.? What specialty? At any rate, I think that it is very cool of you to chime in on these threads. Good Drs. are like that, though. They cannot ignore a medical problem no matter where it pops up. My sister is a pathologist and her husband a cardio surgeon/ ER doctor. :)

The blood thing is not a good sign. I've been sick and then I've been sick. Never any blood. Stay on top of this, Z, even if you have to go to the ER. The thing is, the earlier the correct diagnsosis, the faster to recovery. Some of the doctors today overlook the obvious. Make 'em work for you. Hope you feel better right away.

Guys, I'm doing much better today. I have my energy and some of my physical strength back, although I still feel a bit weak in the chest and arms. Almost all of my symptoms have cleared up thanks to the antibiotics, the only thing left is my throat which is still groggy and feels "bottle-necked" if that makes sense.

If the bloodiness persists, check yourself into the local hospital as soon as possible. The flu is going around...Pneumonia or other respiratory infections are tough to get over.

Stay on the antibiotics and finish them on schedule! That said, good to hear you're doing better.
