Spreading the Christmas Spirit

Tis the season to be Jolly....and forgiving NAW I ain't gona go that far....generous OK thats the tone I wana set...

I really can't knock anybody for joining or belonging to a gruppe. Their are a lota pluses. You get to make new friends and share a common interest, get to go on nice long rides and hang out together. It's a good way to kill time and spend discretionary income. What could be better to keep a guy outa trouble.

And it's Ok too if ya wana drive around a track allthough I have a difficult time wondering why anybody would wana get dizzy. To drive like he!! and wind up going nowhere. But thats not my business either. Again it can be considered a noble endevor, if one considers it as a way to get better at doing something, I suppose.

But what really strikes me as not being forgivable is the attitude these guys strike...you would think they were newbie PCA members or somethin..that they are drivin the latest 996 or somethin. Such SNOBERY , ELITEISM that because they drive a pieced together Clone of an orginal car they are doin somethin special, that... that their excrement don't stink. That they are the true embodiment of the Porsche spirit, the true keepers of the faith. Well let me tell you to other people all they come off as is a bunch of Arrogant, self serving ego maniacs.

Well that was good I feel so much better...it's good to be nice once in awhile, especially around the Holidays...Happy Holidays R Gruppe boyz!

I know this is not up to the level of Tabs's best diatribes about the R Gruppe. It really is a pretty poor showing on my part. I feel ashamed and feel like I am slipping. It is getting harder and harder to come up with fresh material about them. So all I am doing is recycling stale worn out cliches...

well then, it is perhaps time to move on to new material. You'll have to wait for them to do something new to give you new fodder. Such is the price of being a social commentarian...

Tabs, you are way off base. You have a vendetta, a cross of some sort to bear.

From an outsiders pont of view, and a bit of a newbie re: early 911s, I have found the Gruppe to be a crsoss section of auto enthusiasts. Yes, I think there may be a jerk or three. There's also a couple of very quiet types, flaming liberals and hard core consevatives, well to do sportsmen and gettin' by blue collars. Racers and drivers, BBS addicts and non technical blokes, they're all represented. Probably find pretty much the same sampling in the Cobra club.

I don't think you can accuarately pin a label on the group as neatly as you suggest. Actually, the snobbery and elitism that you accuse the group of (known as a glittering gerality) has never surfaced in my presence.

I have been around these guys more than they know about by my habit of walking into a group, or a gruppe, standing, listening, looking at a car and walking away w/o saying a word. The most help I have gotten so far with my project has been from Rgruppe members. They didn't stick any attitude on the part I bought that I could find.

Because they bond over an essence lost, is the furthest evidence of snobbery I can think of. However, to those that don't pick up on what is goin' down with the gruppe, well, that's the person who will deem the gruppe a clique of elitists. This, becasue when you are left out in the cold not understanding what is so simple to grasp, you may feel shunned.

Is this any different in any area of business, racial relations, community workers (like Rotary, Elks, etc,), the arts and, of course, politics? No, you have to show an interest in learning about the energy that draws these people together. If you grasp what is in the air and return some of the same, you will be accepted.

Up 'till now, you haven't felt accepted, so you lash out. And your lashings are inconsistant. No one will take an interest in you untill you take an interest in them. Tabs, I think you have an inferiority complex and you think these other guys do to. So, that's why they all go off toghether and snob everyone.

As I said here in the beginnig, you are way off the mark. This could be a group of Sabot bay racers and you would feel the same way until you understood why someone gives up his/her Sat & Sun afternoons to sail a liitle boat and then gather for all hours to talk about it. Same deal with surfers.

Get out of the house and go see for yourself. Go somewhere where you will find some members of a viable interest group where you have an interest. Ask one or two how to do something and then come back here and tell us that they were all conceited and standoffish. Go ahead, ask an RGruppe member about his or your car and see how much snobbery go into the conversation.

But, you won't do that will you? Then you couldn't sit in your ivory tower disseminating all your make believe wisdom.

Oh sure Zeke, go ahead and interject sanity . . . what fun is it then?

Hey tabs, maybe try the SCWDP. . .we have a few uptight guys . ..well maybe, not reallly. Certainly not up to your prefered standards of uptightyness; but hey, our cars were build after God and Ferry rusted. . .er -RESTED. Thats got to be worth something. And, as to taking ourselves too seriously; don't forget. . .its a PLOT. . .it doesnt get much more serious than that.

Or how 'bout those Gruppe-B guys? Have you seen how they will desimate, defile and degrade the essence of the 911 !?

Merry x-mas, tabs.

Zeke, it was better, pre-edit.

You mean I missed it? I miss everything, including the deleted thread..Dam...

Oh **** I am a member of the SCWDP...even though they know I loath the later cars. Gruppe B even has invited me, but since I am the only real rebel I refuse to take a number. Ands as such (the only true rebel) I am #1 in the R Gruppe according to Cris Huertgas...he's even got a mascot suit for me to wear. They gota get it away from the 69Sman first though!

Oh Zeke...an "ivory tower.... disseminating make believe wisedom" Oh Zeke...how you are tempting me....Like you said you are a "Newbie" I'm a "Oldie" with these boyz. Everything you said about the R Buddies is pretty much true. Yeah....but they take themselves way toooo seriously, and can't stand ANY CRITICISM of the Buddies. Since they won't listen they leave themselves open to the likes of me.

Now if it were just me it would be one thing...but everytime they open their mouths on this Board they get their heads handed to them... I am referencing Johnny Wiz's comments on the other Board as an example of their whining....er complaining see I am being nice to you....

You know how this all started Zeke...I wrote a parody about the modifing of the cars from the point of view of General Jack D. Ripper, a character from the movie Dr. Strangelove. I even used his name in the title of the post, and a play on the "purity of essence"...to my utter amazement the R Buddies didn't catch it, they took me seriously..and it's all bin down hill since then..... So don't lecture me on inferiority complexes.
