What the??

Trying to imagine the reason for completely deleting the "Bush on TV" thread(?) I saw all of it up until last night, (and started the thread), can't for the life of me remember what made it different from any other politlcal thread/debate on this off topic forum.

Wayne, you say that you cannot be bothered w/ emails from disgruntled customers about OT content? Here's an idea: Make a "sticky" that says, "if you don't like the contents of a thread here, don't read it!" I don't like plenty of what is written here, but it's called free speech on an intenet forum. Provided by a private company that believes in free speech, or so I thought.

It was pretty obvious that quite a few people were enjoying the thread, based on # of views and replies, so what exactly was the objection? What part of it violated the policies around here so that in the future I will know the guidelines for posting on this OT forum? TIA.

Here are the OT Forum guidelines:
OK: to make this forum an effective place, here are some guidelines for us to live by in this Off Topic area. As the moderator of this forum, I will do my best to serve your needs.
Quote:

From when the OT Forums opened
1. No flaming: debates are ok, but responding to threads just to incite or start an argument or conflict is not permitted. Personal attacks, if hostile in nature, are not allowed.

2. No pointless threads or excessive posting allowed: Yes, this is an off topic forum, but let's keep the subject matter of an intelligent nature. If you're bored, play a game on your playstation or better yet, wash your car! Posting responses to increase your 'number of posts' is also not allowed.

3. Absolutely no pornographic, objectionable, or illegal material allowed. No pictures, links to pictures, discussion of porn...etc. is allowed. Objectionable material includes graphic gore, tasteless jokes, and any off-color subject matter. Such posts will be deleted, and such posts are grounds for banning.

4. No discussion of any illegal activity permitted. This not only jeoparizes Pelican Parts and Wayne, it will ultimately jeopardize you! Linking to any site that deals with illegal activity is not allowed. Posting information on how to defraud a company or misuse a product or any promotion of any illegal activity will not be tolerated. Again, such posts are grounds for banning. Observe all copyright laws when posting copyrighted material.

5. Do not impersonate other people or use fake aliases. Only one userid per person allowed.

6. No profanity allowed. Make every effort to express your views without resorting to trash talk.

7. Respect other's privacy: no posting of pictures, phone numbers, email addresses...etc. of another individual without their permission.

There will be posts in the off topic area that will have heated debates. Please approach such threads with caution: be as clear as possible in posting your views, so you won't be mis-interpretted. Heated debates are good, as long as people enter them with a mature attitude and are willing to "agree to disagree." Mutual respect goes a long way.

I don't believe these guidelines are unreasonable. Let's have fun here, but keep the peace too.

Regards,
-Zoltan.

I apprecaite your response, Zoltan, but still trying to fathom how that thread violated the guidelines.

Somebody chimed in towards the end calling everybody morons and idiots.

Then somebody called him racist.

Then people started talking about chicken pot pie.

but when the chicken pot pies started flying, that's when it finally got interesting. Then it was killed.

ahh...now I get it. This obviously is a plot by the Chicken Antideflamation League. In fact, I think I see on of their black helicopters overhead right now...

Excellent summary of the event that occurred in that other thread!

I said it before, but I'll say it again:

Oh, anyone also like Chicken ala King?

Yummy! :P

All chicken jokes aside, it's a shame that thread left the building. There were some very good points made by people way smarter than President Me.

Anybody care to start a thread on which is the best religion...how about the best addiction treatment program?
