Tabs the Fearless

I'm sorry to say there is NO neutral anymore. U boyz have tasted opression for the first time, when Wayne deleted your thread. Welcome to the club, opression is alive and well in the US of A. There are among you who are quick to judge and just as quick to lynch anything you don't like. I have been up against it for the last 2 years, I have continued to stand up against it, and now u have some idea of why I continue to jab at that unnamed Gruppe. While I don't for a second think anyone in the Gruppe brought out the lynch rope, it is the same force of darkness that complained.

While I think Wayne made a mistake in giving into a complaint, based upon the rational that you can't please everyone. That acting on a complaint is a slippery slope. I gota say THANKS TO WAYNE for allowing me a free reign. I get a lot more tolerance here than in another place that shall remain nameless. While I have the courage of my convictions and will stand by them even if it means walking alone. I also realize that freedom carrys with it responsibility, that is a realization of decorum and whether anybody realizes that in me or not I know I have limitations.

Now Wayne is also paying a price for deleting that thread. He has incured the wrath of the faithful. When a guy like Island posts a thread about the weather he is sending a subtle message...of his fear and displeasure. Fear is the death knell of freedom of expression. This has my friends sent a shock wave through this BBS, it reamins to be seen whether it is a ripple or a tidal wave?

yo tabs, chiiiiilllllllll ;)

check the Off-Topic Forum thread for Wayne's last few posts. I had pretty much the same sentiment as you until I read why Wayne really killed the thread. no matter how trivial, anyone throwing threats of lawsuits around just isn't worth the aggravation. hence I can understand Wayne's decision

I would have had to have read the thread in question to make any kind of coherent opinion on the matter. I'm afraid I missed this one.

But lets speak on practical terms...The more people you have reading something the more likelyhood that there is going to be someone sooner or later who doesn't like what he reads. One can't possibly please everyone. Someone is going to complain. That comes with the territory.

I believe that on these boards there is a disclaimer that management is not responsible for the opinions of indivduals posting them. I would then polietly inform the complaining party of that clause he agreed to before becoming a member of the Board and take it up with his attorney if he has a problem with it.

Now I as I said in an earlier post...If this BBS affected my bottom line in any way it would be gone. The OT Board as I also said before is a necessary device to keep the other forums focused. Now the question is does the BBS generate any business through good will, increased traffic thorugh the website. If it increases income then some hassle is acceptable as the cost of doing business, if not well then it is a "luxury."

On the level of principle. I will stand on principle if it's defensable to the end, if it isn't then it's time to cut and run.

BTW: If there isn't a disclaimer on this Board there should be one to CYA...Wayne.

Tabs,

You've seen the Brett Favre commercial that's running recently?

"I'd have double bagged..."

Let's not armchair QB Wayne's decision, no one (except Wayne) knows the full facts surrounding his decision. If he wants to disclose, he will.

This BBS has had an impact on Waynes bottom line (albeit a small one...), I started buying from PP when I found it and saw the value of not only the site, but the company that sponsored it, so in some small way, I hope I've had an impact.

Wayne didn't capitulate to a legal terrorist, he simply removed himself (and us for that matter....) from the line of fire.

Besides, where would you go if this place disappeared?

Who loves ya baby!!! :-)

the real question is, Wayne, why in the hell are you up at 5:42am? Is that up late (acceptable) or up early (unacceptable).

I think it's time for an intervention. And when is the rescheduled poker game? And have you seen my keys?

SoCal....In my case I like to say...I like to take long walks in the Desert. So far I havn't had any takers at the Strip Clubs I frequent.

It was explained to me that even with a disclaimer a case of Defamation was lost. In that case it is a matter of cut and run to CYA. Especialily since it wasn't even managments opinion...I personally won't be responsible for some Yahoo's backward comments. So I would have cut that thread quicker than the time it takes to read this overaged tripe.

Now do we all sit here in fear that someone is going to complain?
