questions for winter drivers.
 
going to the sierras this weekend. i have a 4x4 pickup. do i need chains on all four wheels? just the fronts? or the backs? it has been awhile since i have driven in those conditions.

Only use chains when the road is covered by the snow, and use them on all four wheels.

Don't speed either, the chains will bind up and break otherwise...

Use 4WD high usually unless low is really needed.

Compacted wet snow is problematic for many drivers because they follow too darn close. Intersections and driveways can be problematic but not if you plan in advance-slow down!
Tire chains are not necessary and neither is the expense. Disengage the overdrive, give yourself time, and slow down is the best advice I can give.
