IT-guys: BT878 drivers and XP Compatible?
So I've been trying to install a DVR card on an XP machine and it seems to be causing problems for my machine. It screws up my network connectivity...can't post on PP!
The seller of the card believes it to be a TCP-IP file that's been corrupted and that I should re-install XP. First, is that a likely cause? Or is is the driver (for XP from the MFG) not XP compatible? If I "re-install" XP, will that mean I'll wipe out the data I have on the HD? TIA, |

Yes, reinstalling will wipe data and settings. There could be a resource conflict, but I doubt it. You can remove and reinstall just the tcp/ip network portion of windows, which may get your connection and the card working at the same time. Good luck.

Thanks "id10t". So how do I just reinstall the TCP-ip portion?

Before resorting to a full re-install, you might try the "system restore" utility (under system tools).

Yep, I've done that Eric. The problem is a drivers conflict with my two PCI cards. I'll have to see if I can get more up to date driver for one of the cards (over 2 yrs old).
Thanks....I'm getting the hang of this geeky stuff ![]() |
