Ski Boots

running a tangent off of the ski helmet post...

I need some boots to replace my 6 year old salomon evolution boots. the padding or "insides" are smooshed and there is just too much slop (foot moves too much). furthermore i am on my last notch on all 4 buckles so i can't tighten anymore (how did that happen because i haven't lost any weight in my legs?) anyone have a good site for comparing boots or ideas on what to look at. long shot i know but i casually posted here once looking for ideas on what to do in new orleans and ended up using the replied advice to have one of the best trips of my life.

TIA

Can't give you the most recent specs on boots but my 5 yo Salomons are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned.

from what i understand boots last a number of "days" skied as opposed to seasons. i have heard annything between 50-100 days is a nice life for a boot. i think that is short for 4-500 dollar boots. anyone have custom footbed? does that help?

Yes, absolutely. Take the insole out of your ski boot and look at it...does it look like it's designed to support in all your right places? Probably not.

A custom orthotic sole for your boots makes an incredible difference - both in comfort and performance. And that's just the beginning. The shell itself can be heated, ground down, etc. to make an even better fit. Check this link:

thanks guys!

as i understand it if i get the footbed it's transferrable to any boot so i think i'll spend the $140 and see if that works for some time. BTW marc, sweet avatar! if you haven't visited http://bt.etree.org/ you are missing the boat! just downloaded jerry garcia band from waldorf SF 1/11/82. soundboard...it ROCKS! also, Drago...you kicked a$$ in Rocky IV. take care

thanks again

joe
