compressing video

How do I reduce the file size of a video of my car so I can email it, or is this not possible? The current file size is about 7MB stored on my hard drive.

If possible can you direct me to a full set of novice instructions.

Thanks
Mark

mac or pc? What is the window size of the video? The only way to really get the file size significantly smaller is to reduce the window size or the frame rate, although apps like Cleaner can do some other tricks.

The type of compression used is also very important. The DIVX codec will most likely give you the best combination of size and quality. People use this codec to take ~5 gig DVD's and shrink them down to 700 megs while maintaining very good quality.

The DIVX codec can be found for free at www.divx.com Some instructions and free tools for doing the conversion can be found at www.vcdhelp.com

It does take a bit of work to figure out how to do this the first time. If you like, I'd be willing to take a crack at doing it for you. Just let me know and then we can figure out how to get the file to me.
