any statin users?

my doc put me on Zocor (been on about a month). My cholesterol isn't that high (LDL at the upper end of "normal", HDL is fine), but I did a CT scan 2 years ago and it showed some calcification, so he wants my LDL lower.

Problem is after being on for a couple weeks, I've started having "arthritis" like problems with my hands. And I feel kinda weak. I've been reading various boards and it seems like some people report interesting side effects. But you can never tell about web boards. Oh wait...

Anyone here on any statin?

Was on Liptor for about 2 years....all blood work came back normal. However I developed severe back pain. Stopped taking the sh!+ and in about 3 months no more back pain.

I have bin takin a Cholestrol over the counter reducer....my high was 260 before I was put on Liptor.. on Liptor I droped to about 160, with the over the counter I was at 215 (I was taking one pill a day and the presubribed amount is 2 pills). Believe me I havn't changed my eating habits, it pork ribs all the way and butter sandwiches.

I do not like Liptor...a friends wife was on Liptor and she started having leg cramps...she is an RN who does Heart Bypasses at Arcadia Methodist. her family has gentically high Cholesthol around 400... So I don't know what she takes now.

Hope my ramblings help.

I take Tricor, no side effects. I don't know what the difference between this medication and yours are.

My dad's cholesterol was pretty high a while back, and he was put on Lipitor as well. That dropped it a bit, but then he stopped taking it (side effects) and started taking "red yeast rice"(?) supplements. That dropped it significantly with no apparent side effects.

Not a doc but played one on TV and if you're getting sore joints side effects its worth a call to the doc....

I work in Pharma marketing and marketed a big statin that got yanked from the market for causing some wicked side effects....

I've been on 10mg of Lipitor for three years with no noticeable side effects...
