Looks like a Burmese Python. I had one of them too - very nice pet. My Retic was mean and nasty. One night he got out of his aquarium and wrapped around my leg. It was pretty cold in the house and I guess all he saw was my fat thermal image against the cold backdrop. I woke up and had to uncoil him and toss him back. I enjoyed trading him away my Boa.

Not my snake. One slight problem though - I think they probably only digest 1 per day or so. Not real good for a big infestation. ;)

Actually, that Burmese is eating the mouse backwards and that can be dangerous for them. They usually take them down head first. A good sized snake will eat as much as you can feed him. I've seen a fat Burm. take ten rats in a few hours. Even if they get full from eating, they still love to kill anything that moves and is small enough to bite onto.

Gophers? The same a Woodchucks and Ground Hogs? What a pain...they live in conolies that last up to and over 100 years....depending on backhoe activity. LOL
The traps for these suckers are Nasty...

I trap the little ba$tards and feed them to the Labs....problem is, everyonce in a while I run across a smart one.....he won't take the bait that's in the spring loaded "black hole traps" I use. He just backs dirt up and blocks the hole again.

MOST of the time, I clean out two fresh tunnels, cram the traps in the hole with a little light showing thru and baited with carrot. Average wait is about three four hours and bam, I get em....I like to see them still struglling when Sandy and Old Fogey gobble their skanky butts down....

The Black Hole traps look like a black plastic beer can, with a spring loaded wire that compresses the chest and asphyxiates the little buggers....

I was going to use a Conibear 220 but I'm afraid my pup may wander over to it.

This what I use....the problem is I live near semi wild areas and I get transplants....constant battle.

That looks like an enclosed version of the Conibear. How big are the gophers on your property? Mine are the size of a large, fat cat but with their legs cut off (obviously).

They are no bigger than normal....6-8 inches long not counting the tail....no problem with them getting IN the trap. Their holes are large enough to get four fingers of my hand in to tell which direction to orient the trap....

Ok, you have a smaller problem.... heh heh.
