Is this worth the ruckus?
I point all those bothered by such, to this CNN thread, lead story on their web page, about the FCC investigating Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction."
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/02/02/superbowl.jackson/index.html Do we care? Should we care?

**** that ****, man.
Everybody's acting like they've never seen a boob before. Seriously, the fact that the FCC is spending my tax dollars investigating this **** makes me want to smash something, but good. my notsofreakinghumblekickyourassopinion. Jason

I have no problems with showing a boob on T.V. This is a huge waste of our time and money. Want to censor T.V. - start with all the violence and crime that is glamorized on T.V. everyday.

I think it was Timberlake getting back at Brittany for letting Madonna swab her tongue all over her mug.
Evidentally, MTV (who produced this) promoted the **** out of it as "something very risque" will occur during the Timberlake/Jackson duet at halftime.

No need to be offended. The nipple was covered. See photo at Drudge Report:
Edited for content. Sorry, but that's a bit over the PG-13 line. -Z-man.

Yeah? How about this? A local news sports anchor was aghast over this, saying, "Now I have to explain to my young son what a 'wardrobe malfunction' is when I should be explaining football to him."
Please... ![]() It's like the pot issue...let's get over it. The only thing missing from television is the "sex." It already has the "violence" -- in spades.

A fake boob with a piece of metal pierced through it... what the hell, its a sign of the times. Nothing beautiful and natural left anyway, might as well flop them out on national television. How much worse can it get?

I really don`t care about seing boobs on TV. It bothers me more to see people eat a soup of veal brain and roaches, or drink a cocktail of worms like I have seen on the Fear factor. Kinda makes me throw up my dinner. If people want to be offended, why do not they get offended by that ? A boob is neither offensive nor disgusting. And I don`t see how it would affect kids either, this is not porn, for God`s sake !
That being said, it was a stupid stunt, and it is pretty sad that poeple have to do things like that to get attention. But She is Michael Jackson`s after all ![]() Aurel |

Aurel: are you saying Janet Jackson is Michael Jackson. Hmmm...I can believe that, actually.
I don't think this mattered to anyone. If it did offend anyone, then seeing a commercial where a dog bites a guy in the nuts for his Budweiser must've really got them going. What this is, is high-profile; like Kobe, Martha and Michael himself. Of course the FCC is going to jump in. Of course the NFL is going to say "No more MTV-produced halftime shows," and bask in the non-football-related limelight while saying this. Everyone wants attention. It's all really quite cheesey: a has-been like Janet Jackson has to have a soon-to-be-has-been like Timberlake rip her top off oh-so-neatly, to garner attention. Sheesh! Just give me cartoons, please...at that, hand-animated only.

Disagree with most of you guys here: Did you have any kids watching the Super Bowl? I did and I was not pleased. The rapper Nelly grabbed his private parts multiple times during his rap. The thing with Janet Jackson was just obscene.
For a family event like the Super Bowl, this issue is not about us - we can handle it I presume. It's about the kids. From a music point-of-view: Put on someone more mainstream. Rap is crap. Yes, I understand it's very popular with a certain segment, but put on someone who appeals to a broader audience. Shania Twain was on last year along with Britney Spears and Aerosmith, as I seem to recall. Shania looked a little on the scimpy side, but she did keep her clothes on. - Bill

I was high above the clouds enroute from Denver to Michigan and didn't see yesterday's 'entertainment'. I think Motion's pretty much got it right, but as the dad to two daughters - (11 and 14) what bothers me is that - as I understand it - SHE didn't flop it out, the whiteboy wannabe rapper flopped it out for her. Just another signal from the twisted media that this type of behavior is 'normal' and OK ...... not much of a surprise ..... you can bet this was THE topic of every junior/senior high school lunch room today ....

Okay, it is bad for kids. But let us elaborate a little more on that. Why is this bad for kids to see a guy grab his crouch or a chick show her breasts ? Is this going to traumatize therm ? I don`t think so. Is this going to make them have sex at a preamture age ? Unlikely. All it is going to do is make them ask questions that will embarass their parents. And if the parents were not so uptight about that, everything would be fine. Please, explain to me what I do not get.
Aurel

Let's take it a few steps further ...... how bout just having a live full blown porno on stage next year at halftime? At worst, it will just cause kids to ask some embarassing questions of their parents. And is it going to make somebody have sex at a premature age? I doubt it, so let's go ahead and do it. The hell with standards and respect.
