I asked the dealr about the F/a kit they said theres no such thing not that I am douting you,... I thin they are SO FULL OF ****,... they head mech said that I dont hav to change the fuel filter,... EVER. He said that is would out live the vhicles life. Over at yotoatech,... I finally got some answers,... they all said he is so full of ****. They said if I dont replace it the and it fully clogs, the fuel pump will seize and then I will have to have it replaced. Basically they want the money,... so I am going to replace it today,... its going to be a ***** to replace. Its under the intake manifold. About the oil in the manifold,... its not alot,... but I do want to clean out my pcv valve though,...
|
JUST BUY A NEW PVC VALCE THEY ARE CHEAP. OR IF YOU WANT YOU CAN RUN SOME CLEANER THREW IT. IF YOU SHAKE THE PCV VALVE AND YOU HEAR IT TICKING THEN ITS STILL GOOD. WOW IM SURPRISED THEY DONT HAVE HTE F AND A KIT.. STUPID NJ TOYOTA DEALER.
|
I have to open the valve cover to get to that PCV valve,.... once I do that I am going to need a new valve cover gasket? Anyways,... I changed out my fuel filter and there was a difference!!! I have alot more power now,... I don't know about MPG et because I have been really her her the last day or two,... next tank im goign to calculate,... let me know about the valve cover gasket.
|
Umm you shouldnt have to remove the valve cover to get to the pcv valve, You should be able to just pull it out of the valve cover. Yes I would say to replace the valve cover gasket, It is possable to clean it and put it back on, but save the worries for something else and replace the gasket. Ohh ya I wanted to ask you. Is your 4cyc the 2.5 or the 2.7 engine??
|
Its the 2.7L 4Cyl,... I have to go throughthe manula to see how to remove the PCV valve,... that would be soo coll if I didnt have to remove the valve cover. Also,... once again,... the truck is running nice!!! It is very strong now,... like it was before. I am about ot fill up the tank and calc MPG. I think I might the to the dealer and get a PCV valve. Also,... I bought some new plug wires,... I cant figure out how these ****s go in,... I mean,... im gonna have to ake some pictures,... check back. You'll see what mean,...

Ok,... that was easy. I found the pcv valve right away,... I disconnected the hose from it and removed the valve. I noticed oil on the end of the hose. The was oil in the hose too. I cleaned out the hose before reinstalling it,.... I boiled it to get it really clean:) So anyways,... I removed the pcv valve and shook it. I could here it click so it wasn't completely clogged but it wasn't clicking all that well,... there some some crap in there. So,... I used some air intake cleaner and blasted the inside of it unitl it ran clean. I took the air compressor to it too. By time I was down,... brand new pcv valve. It was really clean. Anyways,... I noticed that the hose went from the valve to the manifold,... I dont quite understand how the valve works. We want the crankcase to be under a vaccum right? So that oil doesnt get pushed pass the rings right? Im gussing that the manifold is pressurising the head and the cylinders so that the pressure exceeds any pressure within the crank case so that the oil cant push its way though the rings? Is that right? Can someone explain that to me,...

you got plans to get back into a P-car soon? |
There is very little vaccum in the crank case. The reason the valve is connected to the intake is because of emissions, any crank case vapors are burned not dumped into the outside air. The manifold does put some vaccum on it just to suck the gasses out. If there was a large vaccum then you would be blowing out seals and have problems with your rings. If there was no vaccum and a Positive pressure you will also blow out seals. The best it to try to make it neutral and let it vent like the pcv lets it. Let me know what else I can help you with.

Plans for another p-car, hmmmmm. Well,... I will be going back to school soon and when I do I plan on buying something,... either a 951 or a bike. I basically plan on pulling out a nce 10,000 loan. I really want the car,... but insurance, car payment, maintanence, plus the insurance for the truck, and if I still hev payments on the truck,... i might not but ehhh. It would be expensive. The bike route,... get a nice used one,... get all the gear i need to be safe,... very maintanence(oil changes but nothing to fix), liability insurance is reall cheap. I mihgt go for the bike route:( I dont know,.......

Im thinking about getting a sweet Jet ski this summer. But Like you I still have truck payments and insurence to worry about
|
a bike is probably your best bet.

I'll get a nice used one and get liability on it,... that wont cost me anything. The bike will be my little something something from all the stress of school and work. It will be cool.
