Hey guyz,...

I know this is not porsche related,... but you guyz are the only people I can get answers from!!! I tried posting over at yotatech.com and I can't get any answers out of them!!! I don't think I've gotten one good informative answer from those guyz over there. Anyways,... my truck,... I want to flush the engine out,... clean out the oild passages. the truck only has like 66,000 miles on it so I'm not worried about leakages or anything like that. So,... I got some ATF and I was going to use that,... is that all I need or should use to do this? How long shold I do it for? I remember 20 minutes at idle, watching the temp guage closely. Is that about right? My truck has been running like shizz lately and the MPG has been ****ty too, like 15 - 16. Keep in ming its a 4Cyl. at 2.7L. That blows. Also the my exhaust tones are nasty,... has a putt putt sound to it when its suppose to HUM like when I first got her. IU ran some BG44k through the truck,... I actually ran two can of that through before and that helped alot with my slight power loss and it even got rid of the putt putt in the exhaust tones. You guyz use that on the pcars? Good shizz,... it's like 17 beans at the stealer. Anyways,... I am about to run another can of the 44K through and then I'm going ot change out the fuel filter seeing that it might be full seeing that I ran 3 cans through. I am also going to change out the spark plug wires, oil fliter, and spark plugs are new. I just need to know about the fluching,... thanks. Here some pictures of what I ahve been up too,... LOL.

Instead of ATF, use something like Gunk Motor Flush, add it to the oil, run the engine for about 15 min. then drain it out.
Personaly, I doubt flushing the oil system is going to do anything to improve your mileage. The tune up will help with that.

flushing wont do a thing. if you changed your oil on a regular basis, i think you will be wasting your time. you dont mention what type of mileage you used to get. did it degrade that much? i would do the tuneup and see what happens.

Hey MAN I work for Toyota, First off dont use atf to flush your engine, Second u dont need to flush the engine as long as you do oil changes every 3,000 miles. What you should do is this Toyota recommends doing the spark plugs every 15,000 miles, SO start there. Then do what whe do to clean the intake and throttle body, GO to the dealer and ask for their F and A kit (Fuel and AIr kit) its made by BG and it will clean out you throttle body and intake and valves and all that fun stuff. Next check your air filter see if it should be replaced. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. I own a 2000 Toyota Tacoma V6 SR5 with some great mods. SO just drop me a line

I changed the plugs already. I am about to change the wires too. I have changed out the air filter with a K&N and its clean. I have intake cleaner that I bought that im going to use to clean the throttle body and intake. I will ask about that kit. Toyota said to change my oil evrey 5000 miles and so that I have done. My truck is running like ****. I used to get about 19 - 20 mpg and now im down to 15 - 16. I won't flush out the engine i guess. I knew that flushing the engine wouldn't improve the gas mileage at all but rather to keep from building up inside. I am going to change the fuel filter too, I know it needs it.

I agree w/ the Toyota tech, if you do your own maintenence I would simply go through it methodically; system by system, eliminating weak/faulty components. Toyotas are pretty darn bullet-proof, shouldn't take long to find the problem. And "motor flushes" are BS, IMO, just change your oil regularly.

toyotas either run perfect or they don't, check your vacuums (as mentioned) put in some new plugs/wires and check the timing, toyos like a little advance.
2 other things, disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes to reset the computer.
and is the 02 sensor original? they can wreck havoc on imports.....my corollas was dying slowly....one day the check engine light came on (died completely) and the car ran perfect, it had every symptom you describe

Ok,... I have to get a VAC gauge. I am not touching the timing on the truck,... seeing that it is still under warranty. The O2 sensor is like $120 and toyota won't replace it unless is doesnt work,... so,... if I wanted it replaced I would have pay for it myself or,...... well,... I'm not going to go there, LOL. I'll reset the comp even though I don't know what that would do,... either tomorrow or monday I'm going to get started. Thasnk for your help guyz. Big HELP.

Can you run synthetic oil in your toyota? I would think you could it being a new engine and all. I believe synt oil dissolves dino oil gunk and it is slipperier so you should get a few more MPG's.

yes all models that arent running plaitum or iradum plugs, should be changing plugs every 15K for best performance and If I where you I would do that cap and rotor with the plugs. Yes you can run synthetic oil in any model, The oil is alot cleaner and doesnt brake down like regular oils. Just drop a line if you have any more questions

What do you think of the high millage motor oils? I recently put valvaline maxlife in the 4Runner. I'm wondering what makes these so "special". The oil was free due to a $12 rebate.

Ok,... I looked through the throttle body and saw that there is a thin film of the thick oil inside the intake manifold,... im trying to figure out if its alot or a little. I think I remember somone saying that a little bit of oil in the manifold is normal but the question is whats a little bit? Im going to call the dealer and see what they say,...

Im not too experenced with the "HIGH MILLAGE" motors oils. Personally I dont like Valvaline, I had lots of problems with it in a 87 VW Jetta I had. I dont see what makes a HIGH MILLAGE oil better, maybe a different additive package. I like Mobil 1 full synthetic, I run it in everything I have.
OverKill, I has seen many motors with build up in the throttle body and intake runners, from mild to heavy, I would think that your isn that bad, But anything that is really really thick, and binding up components should be cleaned. The build up is from engine vapors, oil, and some blow by, that is vented back into the intake threw the PCV valve. But Like I said before run the F/A kit and take wire brush and clean out the throttle body. Also you might want to run the F/A kit before you change the plugs sine it tends to make some build up on the spark plugs.
