WOODPIE 02-17-2004 05:37 PM

Sometimes I cut the cheese when I'm making the wood trim that is nailed to the wall of the place that sells the McGriddles that Nader eats to the music that Nostatic plays through Mark's speakers.

I get some satisfaction from it.

How do you rate Dynaudios for home speakers? We have their giant C3 mains system (among other speaker sets) with Dynaudio amps and custom programmed crossovers/eq curves in our studio. They're pretty ****** brilliant.

I need a good audiophile speaker for my home system, but don't want to spend a bundle. I have a pretty sweet Braun A2 class A amp that sounds good.

I sell the software that plans the raw materials for the McGriddles that TomJ makes that Nader eats to the music that Nostatic plays through Mark's speakers.

OTHER hobbies? If I had time for OTHER hobbies, well, I just don't okay?

bell 02-17-2004 07:58 PM

freestyle bmx
turbo dodges (it's a different world really)
the racing team i'm part of.....pushing for grand-am, we're very close.
plasic models
r/c planes (no, i don't know what i'm doing)
girls........well currently one girl
blowing **** up
playing with fire
and
car audio.............this is what i've done proffesionally for 10+ years, fiberglass, wood, plexi, video, nav, security, blah blah blah........if it can be fit into a car i've done it, and in some cases even when it doesn't fit like below.........i was on the build team for the ford turbo diesel at a previous job. took us 2 years to get permission from the gov. to actually buy an armored car, then we built this beast in about 6 months......was basically a frame off, i had my hands in every inch of this truck and drove it around the country for about 2 years. they were good times........soooooo many funny/crazy stories.
there are 60 15" subwoofers in it, the not quite finished rack on the front houses 16 alternators running off a pto we brought out through the radiator. the rivits on the truck panels are all airbrushed.
enjoy

THe only thing I can say to that is...

W H Y ????

(other than because I'm too old..)

bell 02-17-2004 08:09 PM

because boss audio paid for it...............we had built an earlier truck for them and it broke a few records, they wanted the biggest baddest consistantly loudest (at conventions it would play for 14 hours a day) self supportive demo vehicle. no trailer. no windows that roll down. and 10,000lbs of audio gear/wood/steel. there was a really cool neon show in the back too, plus the long glass tubes are a lightning type tube......we saw a 10ft version at a strip club in miami and though it would look cool in there :D
took me about 3 hours to have it ready for show, not bad for convention setup times :D

oh and why..........basically because no one had yet.

Yeah, they weighed about a metric ton each too.:D
Unfortunately they have since been sold to a recording studio to be used as primary monitors.

Here were the specs:
-Dynaudio Esotec 170mm mids, 30mm tweets, & 300mm sub.
-Asymmetric D'appolito arrangement.
-Each mid driver in it's own sealed enclosure.
-Aperiodically damped (not sealed, not ported) sub enclosure.
-18db/octave filter network with Zobel and EQ correction.
-CFAC coils, MIT caps, nickel resistors, silver-soldered connections.
-Cardas "9N" teflon-shielded internal wiring.
-WBT bi-amp terminals.
-Solid brass cone "feet".
-1" thick cabinet construction, & full 1" round on all corners.
-Hand-rubbed piano black lacquer finish, no grilles.
-25hz to 25Khz (+/- 2db), 35hz to 20khz flat.

They sounded absolutely phenomenal. I should have kept them, as those drivers are no longer in production AFAIK. :(
