You think Porsches are expensive?

Check out these: http://www.boydsshop.com/cars.htm

I can see why some people are crazy with cars like these. They're pretty cool cars, but not for that kind of money.

Isn't this the guy who is on TV now? Pretty intense work.....kind of the 4 wheel counterpart to Orange County and West Coast Choppers.

Funny thing is the bikes command pretty much the same amount of cash.

BTW, I think their fiberglass is layed in Australia and shipped to Cali. You'd thing it'd be more cost effective to keep it local...especially in CA.

Boyd is the master -- Cadzzilla is one of the coolest cars ever. He's done all (I think) of ZZ Top's cars.

I'm not such a fan of his new show; American Choppers is much better.

Hot Rods, like Harleys, don't do much for me. I grew up around them & find them (Yawn) boring. Muscle cars are a little better, but nothing turns my crank like 911s.

It's human nature...people are desiring the cars that turned them on during their youth. A chopped deuce coupe still turns my head, even though there are a gazillion of them out there these days. I'd love to have a nice street rod...but not so badly that I'd sell my old 911S to have one.

I'd love a Merc Lead Sled (hardtop of course) in purple with 90% tinted windows...

My friend Bill Thomas does the Rear Ends and Axles for Curry Enterprises...Which Boyd Coddinton uses in his Rods.

Well I quite like this one:

But priced at $ 65000 I'd pick another ride that's for sure! Think what you can get for that kind of money!

Paul
I agree the 911 is unique. It's ligther, more agile and so intense. That's why it's more fun than a custom muscle car.

Ahhh, the '37 Ford Coupe....love the swept back grille. My dad had a '40 2 door deluxe sedan...boy, did I have plans for that car. I came home from school (i was 9th grade) to discover that he'd sold it for $50 because it's little ol' flathead had a bad knock.... I didn't want to talk to dad for weeks after that. But you're right Mikkel...for pure driving pleasure my old 911S delivers in spades...far and above my old muscle car GTO's..

Sorry, no. But I did see it once...a ZZ Top display at a Portland Rod show. Cadzilla, the deuce coupe that was on the cover of their "eliminator" album, and a weird batman looking Harley all in the same area. Rich gearheads end up with some really nice toys...

Nasty... prefab crap.

I watched one of his shows and was appauled to see just how much prefabed, super-shiney, crapola this guy makes.
I know he made a name for himself somehow. I know every redneck in 9 states wants a set of those double-nasty billet aluminum wheels he peddles... "Sheuuuu-doggie!" Maybe he used to build some nice rods... before he got big, but I really just don't see the point. Hell, they are basically over-priced kit cars.

And for the record. I think original, one-off early rods kick ass. But not Mr Cods work.

Just an opinion.

I'm with ya there. I don't care much for the hotrod scene either. for me, they're a bit short on imagination. sure, the fabrication is nice but so what? kinda like Leland said, they get to be overpriced kitcars after a while
