Right, it was total rubbish.
But that kind of program is very big on TV right now.
The OCC thing is starting to get pretty old.

It was on the TV at the local indoor kart track I was at last night, but thankfully the sound was off. I noticed the "excited acting" between the 3 "tuners" and thought it was over the top just watching it.

And just who the hell is this Kaz guy with the Dreamcar Garage guys (Peter and Tom?)? I'm not sure it was still Dreamcar Garage or some spinoff, but he's an ass. We were watching that show on the same TV last night and a couple guys were like "who's that chick ... oh, wait a minute."

I saw a show on the Discovery channel last week that had 2 wanna be street racers, a female with a Honda, & a guy with a Eagle Talon. It was hilarious, the show paid for each to "tune their cars so they could race a eighth mile at the end. The female got $10k worth of work done to her car then posted it on the internet. The competition "tuners" found it online & jacked the nitrious boost up on the Talon to easily beat her.

LOL, I saw the Tuner show as well. They lifted the format from Monster Garage almost completely. Then these genius experts picked the most overexposed JC Whitney stick-on accesories know to man.

Even the show's "babe" was lame.

Saw it too. The stripes were the kicker And the fake anger toward each other was very believable. "Get rid of hat NOS bottle man, my subs are going there" Wow.

Just goes to show that with 500 channels and 24 hours to fill, these guys need content. No one said it had to be especially good. I bet if anyone had a half-ass idea and good execution you could have your 15 minutes of fame too. I "missed" the show, but their first mistake was trying to copy Monster Garage and shows of that ilk.

Somebody could even turn the Pelican Parts canyon runs into a series .... or depending on the cast of characters, even a sitcom.

What's "American Chopper?" Is that the one where the big gorilla has anger management problems? NO one can do it as good as him? I saw the gorilla for a few minutes once, just enough to know if I see him on the screen to flip the channel. Sounds like there's some more programs to ignore.

Lately, I've found better car programs on other channels than Speed. Mainly on DHL. Wierd. Some on DIY.

I misspoke (mistyped) I was referring to American Chopper which is based on the guys at Orange County Chopper (NY not CA...lol). The anger is encouraged and staged. It get's ratings.

staged or not american chopper is pretty good tv. mikey rules! have you seen the commericalon for aol where they blast mikeys car into time? he comes back in some old school mid-evil outfit. that one kills me.

the show about the street racer tuners was lame. the guys that did the honda were somewhat real and did an engine swap that was for long term reliability. the other dudes on the talon were F'ing tools. they just NOS'd that thing to the gills to win. that dude that owned the car got done wrong. bet that 100k+ mile talon is dead in his moms driveway about now. that was not so cal was it?

The girl driving the Honda is a young fool with some whack priorities, her husband is a sniveling bltch. She lost the race & looked like a moron, but at least she got the better end of the tuner deal. Hopefully she learned something & if she sticks with the track racing, I wish her success. However she needs to put her kid first. I remember what it was like to be young & idiotic.

It was sort of cute for the first few episodes, but the Teutel's shtick is getting very predictable.

And the bikes they build?....just get a CCI or Milwaukee Iron catalog, a BFH or two, and hang out your sign.

(BTW...."Indian Larry" *is* da man!)

The ABSOLUTE WORST part of that show with the chick and the Talon guy was when they showed her on the television, she had that little banner at the bottom of the screen (like the news people, etc..)introducing her as:

"Jane Doe." "RACER"

Racer? FREEKIN RACER!?! I guess now anyone that can hold their car in a straight line for 10 seconds with the gas pedal mashed to the floor is now qualified as a "racer".... Fercryinoutloud!

I NEVER understood drag racing. The better you are, the less track time you get. Lets say you end up beign one of the best in the world. You shoot your whole racing day in 4 seconds. Wheeeeeee!

I saw about 30 seconds of that show. In fact i think I've seen about 30 seconds of all three of the shows mentioned in this thread, including American chopper. If I want to watch professional wrestling (which I don't) then I will tune in. Otherwise I vote with my channel changer.
I'm not much into getting dummied up just to watch a show.

I despise these so called tuners and what they do to these cars. They are nothing but posers who are breeding an entire generation of performance posers.

Wooo now I feel better.

Next: a full 30 minute show on a shift knob install.
Personalities include the freak-out overbearing jerk who gets excluded by the end, the shy pacifist fillers who disappear into the wallpaper, the good-looking jock who hobbies include autocrossing in the alps, the barbie with hooters sans grey matter, the undiscovered sex freak librarian nerd girl, and (?) and a major/setback/disaster.

Some of the designs have an element of style, but it's still mostly cut-and-paste tv.
