need a car

Ok, guys I need an every day transporter. Smaller, decent milage, fun to drive, maybe a wagon, 20g's to spend. I'm thinking Audi, Volvo v40, all used of course. Let me know you thoughts. I'm walking away from a 2000 merc sable.

Garage
VW Golf GTI
Nissan altima 2.5 S
Honda civic SI

Those are small, fun, good gas mileage, for around 20 Gs you can get a very recent one.

Or, a little bigger:

Bimmer 32x
Audi A4
vw passat
Honda accord V6

Those will be a little older stay in the 20 Gds.

Either way, I`d go german or japanese...

For a $20K commuter, Aurel nailed it.

I used to have a Honda Civic. I enjoyed filling the gas tank with 12 bucks and last over a week on a gas tank. The engine was rather peppy too, and fun to rev high up to 8000 rpms. But then, I needed a SUV to tow the boat...now, a gas tank is 25 bucks and lasts only 4 days
But I`ll admit my commute is longer and the gas prices have incrased. Ah, the good old times

We need two cars in this house at least. Right now we have a 01 VR6, my sable, 2000 1500 z71, the targa, 1953 cj, and 1926 Model A pu. It's time to thin the crowd. The first three will go in lieu of two pre owned rides. Maybe a Yukon or Toyota pu. Need something to tow snowmobile trailer, load kyakes, bikes etc...Then I need the cruzer for 30 mile hi-way ride to work. I like the idea of a 320. Wifes VR6 is just a little small for commute (for me).

How about a $3-4K 944 and lots of money left in the bank?

Fun to drive, pretty big hatch in the back, don't have to worry about it in parking lots......

Saab has one of the best used car certified warranties. 100K miles, or 6 years form orig. purchase date. My wife has one and they even replaced the muffler at no charge. I say Saab 9-5 wagon w/ a 2.3L turbo. You definitely can find one for under 20K.

I know a dealer here in Phoenix who will let you shop the auction. You pick out a car, he adds $600 for profit and auctions fees to the final bid.
A Mitsubishi Galant would not be my first choice for a car, but they're dumping them at the auctions right now: 2003 ES w/20K miles for $7800 seems hard to beat. '03 Lancer? $6900

Because of a recommendation here I did a search and Clarkson came up. Started off with a lengthy diatribe about his youth and Monty Python, but finally got onto the car (eer... SUV)

The Kia Sorento....

I gather there must be two (at least) different models in the range

Cheers
