I love it. What's good for the Dems is not good for the Republicans.

I sorta figured the real answer is whether you have a job at the moment.

Unemployed.... 5.6% is BAAAAAD!

Employed? 5.6% is sad, but OK.

There are other factors too, I suspect. Jobs going overseas, people who have given up looking. Retraining for some other career.

LOL...Tabs. Good ole Mom.

Sing, I agree that there are alot of hidden factors and influences in the background. But in the end I'd bet they'd pretty much even each other out.

Yeah, listening to all the mainstream media, you'd think the mid-'90s never happened. I guess it doesn't get good ratings to say, "It's the same old business cycle--what goes around comes around. Wait a couple of years and the economy will be booming. Wait a couple more and you'll be worried about your job again."

Or am I the only one who remembers all the hand-wringing about the "jobless recovery" in 1995-96?

No, you're not the only one that remembers those times.

Watching management idiots screw up my job made me start my own business.

The rest was edited so that I am not sued by someone that is now part of the 5.6% after doing something stupid while in my employ.

I have to say that during the so called .com boom any experienced business person realized that it was a bubble that would burst sooner or later.

I had my fill of young upstarts thinking that the world revolved around them. Money was "fake"... very large investments made on on half-baked ideas and business plans written on a cocktail napkin. The rush to greed made for an artificial business environment and economy.

I believe the foundation on which business is sitting on now is much more sound than it was in the late 90s.

The end of the week will be interesting. Jobless claims and interest rate direction (?) will be disclosed.
