recommended audio speakers

I'm in the process of upgrading my home theatre and am looking for a new set of front speakers that will also be my main music source. These are going along with a Sony kv-34xbr910 HDTV. Ones I'm leaning toward right now are Polk LSi15s and Cambridge Soundworks Newton T500's. I know buying speakers is like buying fine wine and prices can jump in a huge hurry. Trying to stay below the $2K mark. Thanks.

take a listen to B&W , excellent speakers for what you want to spend........

Each year "Stereophile" has a survey of equipment, including speakers. Check your local library for it. Sometimes their recommendations are surprising. Some years ago they gave high praise to some cheap Radio Shack speakers, and I bought a pair for my TV. Last time I looked they were wild about Dunlavy speakers, and not very keen on Polks. The magazine is a bit snooty, and you should always go by what your own ears tell you. As you get older, your hearing frequency range diminishes anyway, so it won't matter much what speakers you buy; you will just be glad you can still hear any speakers.

Depends on how crazy you want to get. I'm using Polk SDA SRS 1.2As, never found anything to compare w/ them. But then I never looked all that hard either.;)

Speakers are so personal that you have to live w/ them in your space before making a final decision.

I have owned a pair of Vandersteen Audio speakers for a long time.
Incredible quality and sound. And they do make a line intended for home theatre applications.

I second the B&W...also check out http://www.av123.com and look at the Rockets. IMO a great sounding speaker for the price that will rival the B&Ws.

Are Klipsch Hereseys still considered to be a good speaker? I fell in love with them 20 years ago and am considering a pair for my garage stereo.

Klipsch loudspeakers do have their fans. Because of the horn driver they use, they have a "distinctive" sound. Too much coloration for my tastes...but in a garage? Should be just fine! :)

I'm a fan of Polk speakers, albeit a poor one, but I'm pretty happy with my new RTi6's. My friends parents have a pair of B&W about the same size as my RTi6's, and they sound really good too. Not sure what model they are though. Better low end than my Polks, but cost significantly more from what I remember.
