The best electric shaver?
A couple of years ago I was on a mission to find the worlds best electric shaver. I failed badly. The problem is in the neck area. I cannot seems find one that gives a good shave without irritation there. I think it has something to do with the hair growing in multiple grains rather than all downward like on your cheek. A razor is out of the question, it gives the old neck some nice strawberries about 60% of the time (the other 40% of the time no problems?) However when gettin gussied up for a night on the town a 40% chance of looking like a tool is too high

I'm lucky that my wife thinks I look good with a 2-day beard (which is roughly 12 hours after I shave). My facial hair is best compared to Brillo.
At any rate, you may want to look into using a straight razor.

LOL...."like a tool".
Dont laugh but I sometimes use an Electric which I purchased for my wife after she had surgery....she actually is not allowed to use a razor under arm any loger....go figure. I found that her shaver works very well on my neck. I typically use a Track 2 type deal and it's good most of the time but my neck is also a problem area. With a razor I shave in an upward stroke as opposed to downward as all the guys on TV do. If I did it that way I'd remove 3 layers of skin.

shave with mach 3 and go with the grain on the neck-I have to shave diagonally up and to the right to avoid irritation-you may have tried this already but it works for me

I just bought a Norelco Quadra - their mid-line. Wow! What an improvement over my old Norelco. The Spectra is the top of the line with more features. I really like the way the three heads pivot - for that neck area. The best feature is that cleaning is done by rinsing it under hot water. That's it!
Norelco has a 60 day no risk gurantee http://www.consumer.philips.com/global/b2c/norelco/info/info_item.jhtml?divId=NOR&infoRealmId=Services&infoGroupId=Choosing&infoItemId=60day There's nothing lost in giving one a try.

Braun Synchro 7570 - The very best one I've found.
![]() The charging base also cleans the shaver after use and then blow dries it. You simply change the cleaning fluid cartridge every 2 months or so. The unit is good for heavy beards (I have heavy stubble) and has a sideburn trimmer. Cost me around US$160 at the time, but I bet there's a new model now. The only expenses were the cleaning fluid cartridges and a new foil. I've had it for around 18 months and couldn't be happier. I no longer have the irritated neck, although you do tend to get a few ingrown hairs now, which I never got using a blade.

I think the choice has always depended on the type of beard you have. Foil (holes) works better for a more stubbley beard. The slots of the rotary works for a finer or longer beard. Many companies have combined slots and holes to try and get both. If the foil isn't working (doesn't for me) the rotary types might be just what you need. Norelco has both slots and holes on its head.

I have a Braun, I'll check the model later but it was expensive if memory serves, best shaver ever if you don't mind slow. Takes a long time to get my neck+face really smooth but it will do it. I have same problem w/ neck, I'm an Albino Irish w/ the Black Irish beard.
