So Cal people - Is this the coldest winter ever?

I don't know if I'm imagining things, but this seems like it has been the coldest winter I can remember.

For example, I remember last January (2003) we had several days in the 80s. I remember swimming with my son a bunch of times in January and February.

This winter we haven't been able to go swimming once. We were driving to the store at around 7, I punched up the thermometer in the car and it said outside temp of 54 degrees. Took the dog for a walk at 9, and it must be in the 40s.

It seems like we have had no heat waves from December to March, which is unusual, and the days (and nights, particularly) have consistently been a lot colder than normal.

Am I imagining things?

yes, you are imagining it. Last month I spent at least two weekends wearing shorts at the beach. I've got the pictures to prove it:

There has been a lot of cool weather, (which I think feels great, BTW), but seems like a normal winter to me. Of course they vary from year to year. The winter of '90/'91 was the coldest I can remember, thought it was going to snow in Bel Air.

No!!!!

This has been the coldest year ever.

And the priciest year too. Have you received your SoCal Gas bill? Over doubled!!!!!

My usage last month was 1-unit more than previous year's usage, and the bill was almost triple.

???????

I can't speak for So Cal, but one of my friends in South Carolina says they just got out of the sub-40's this weekend, and that they had snow this winter. Snow in South Carolina!? That's almost miraculous, really. Meanwhile, Seattle area gets ... more rain, like normal.

The coldest and wetest winter I remember in SO CA was the winter of 1969... we had snow in Glendora in Dec of 68 followed by 30 inchs of rain in the next 3 months...that also was the year of the Great Flood in Glendora (we has fires the previous summer). We even made the cover of National Geographic...

Here I am complaining...and I spent most of my life in Detroit.

Hell yeah!

Check this out.

I just drove from Westwood to Palos Verdes and my oil temp never got to operating level !!!

That's a 40 minute drive, rev-ing no less than 3k. Now THAT is cold.

Note: My SC was great in the rain. The steering lets you know exactly what your running into. I'm very impressed.

GC? I assume you mean me? If so then...

HAH!

Are you kidding me? Drena (my SC) sits outside every dam day. Garage queen she is not.

In the morning I'll squeegy the windows, but that's it, she likes to 'rough it'.

I don't think this winter is as cold as two years ago. Feb/Mar are our coldest months each season. We just didn't have too many of those balmy Dec days this seaon that we tend to get. So this year is taking a little longer for the whole season.

Frankly, I hope everyone freezes thier ass off. Remember, I sell and install replacement windows.

Hell no! Rode hard and put away wet. Taken 5 minutes ago:

Man, it's pouring out tonight! Passed everyone on the road tonight, nobody knows how to drive in the wet here. I learned how to drive on a frozen lake, this is nothing. We are going to have one beautiful, green summer this year. You guys must remember the draught years, those suck.
