Our New Ad vs Old Ad - "drivewerks.com"

Just wanted to get some feedback about our new drivewerks ad.

I'll post two - the old vs the new.

This is a magazine ad showcasing car care. Our new vendor has graciously gave us permission to use this image. Einszett is a german based company with some pretty cool car cleaning products. One of the big names in europe when it comes to car care.

Oh Jeez, need you ask? Hmm, on second thought a 930 or early 911 would look better being bent over upon.

BGCarrera32 03-11-2004 12:01 PM

In the top ad you show 1 product, possibly 2 depending on what you are trying to imply with the girl.

In the bottom ad you show almost 72 products you have.

You're paying for a magazine page...1 product shown or 72...catch my drift?

Usually people remember the hot chick in the ad more than "DriveWerks" for instance...

New Ad of course..

Sex sells. I like how you matched the pink font with the pink high heels.

Edit: On second thought that font could be a little fem.. I don't know.

Tim Walsh 03-11-2004 12:11 PM

sex sells no doubt about it.. but BG's got a point as well.

widebody911 03-11-2004 12:15 PM

WTF is she doing!!!! She's going to scratch the paint with the front button of those shorts!

RickM 03-11-2004 12:17 PM

Those shorts have a pull string on the front....

svandamme 03-11-2004 12:18 PM

nobrainer...

How can you tell the ad is for Drivewerks? I see nothing past the girl.

91C2wrencher 03-11-2004 01:15 PM

911SCfanatic 03-11-2004 02:29 PM

svandamme, you've come up with the perfect balance!!! and the hidden meaning is brilliant. If the girl gets ditched I'll be *very* sad. I think svandamme is the new PP ad exec.

svandamme 03-11-2004 02:37 PM

oh well, don't get over exited.... mere cut and paste work

Ben, if you want, ide be more than happy to do it properly , with no obvious cut and paste clone marks or edges,

just let me know, and send me the biggest sized original pics to work with... i work cheap ... as in for free... yeah , i'm a hippie...

Ben at Pelican Parts 03-11-2004 06:08 PM

thank you so much for checking out the ad and posting your comments...

our ad is due shortly and our brand is co-branded with a cool new european product and has a sexier look! Our main point is driving traffic to drivewerks.com - which has some cool things these days!

I KNOW YOU ALL BEEN THERE - - - RIGHT?

The main questions - without being biased...

Will non-pelican heads that see our ad - log onto our site - or even call us?

What ads really make you stop and check out the company that paid for the ad?

Some fraction of buyers will be turned off by the sexism.

Another fraction will associate the "girly" look with cheap (Crummy) products -- note that ads for Porsches and their gear usually have upscale-looking women in them (if at all). As a case in point: the ad that shows that model getting out of a car -- only shows her calves and face, yet there is something very appealing about her.

layzee 03-11-2004 11:38 PM

For type-ins I think you'll have to emphasise the wErks otherwise people won't remember. Girly as is a bit tacky for my liking (much as I like oggling girls).

Ahhh DC automotive. Or whatever. I have no idea exactly what they sell, but I stop on that page every month.
