Bruce Anderson's rebuild class..

Thursday night my wonderful wife gave me Bruce Anderson's rebuild class as my birthday gift. Well, she gave me a card that told me that she would pay for the class, flight from Indy, hotel, ect. Can you believe that! How great is she? I better come up BIG for her birthday in June!

The problem is, I can only take the class in November or December. My job only allows me to take time off then and Mr. Anderson has not update his website recently or run ads in Excellence or Pano lately. She wrote him an email and never got a reply from him. Then about two weeks later she called the phone number listed on the website. She explained to Mr. Anderson the situation and asked him if he had any idea when a future class might be. His reply was that he had read the email be didn't reply to it. She thought that was kinda strange, so she asked if he could give her an idea of when it might be. He was very short with her and seemed like it was a bother for him to answer questions. Then he proceeded to tell her that even if he announces when a class might be held, that is no guarantee that the class will happen because of low enrollment.

I really don't feel like booking a flight, getting a car, getting a hotel for something that might not happen. I understand about the low enrollment problem, but to be so hard to get info out of is kinda frustrating. Now my wife feels bad because my birthday gift is incomplete and she is also afraid that she pissed him off, or he does not like questions from women. I emailed him with a leakdown question once and he replied within the hour and was very nice.

Has anyone run into this problem with him, or does anyone hear know Mr. Anderson? Does anyone out in Cali have more info about the class, or future classes?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Wouldnt it be great if someone such as Wayne and Pelican held such events and classes..... think there would be any interest?

The beer is colder in SoCal.

Thats To bad Weaver!

Must be frustrating getting all the mixed signals from Bruce A.
Does sound like a good class. You really have a good wife who wants
to do something nice for you.

The whole concept of an instruction class fro D.I.Y Porsche owners
is a great one and Wayne doing one sounds like a winner.

How about Videos for Porsche repairs? I have looked around some and there seems to be very few. Do you know of any?

Benson

i talked to him once about the very same reason. he wasnt very talkactive. i didnt end up taking his class. his class is very popular. but i do think he should put it up on a regular schedule, that way it doesnt feel like he is doing us a $600 favor everytime.

happy birthday dude!

Hey, thanks unfixed.

I have a feeling I'll be able to go, but its going to take checking his website or ads alot this summer.

No, Benson, I don't know of any modern rebuild tapes or DVDs availible. That would be intresting though.

This is wierd, what could possibly transpire when asking about when a class that is being taught ? that would give someone the idea he is pissed? teaching=service.

If he doesnt want to teach his precious course anymore then just say so! no need to make anyone feel uncomfortable.....

some people just dont have any "people" skills...

With the online resources available now... why not use the "way cool" birthday gift towards parts... then "WE" can teach you how to rebuild the engine...

I took his tuneup class about 7 years ago, and found both Bruce and Jerry Woods to be very nice, fairly outgoing people. Maybe things have changed somehow...sorry you had a bad experience w/ him. I think his rebuild class would be very valuable, if you can get the schedule pinned down.

Weaver 03-14-2004 08:30 AM

I would not go as far as to say it was a "bad experience" just yet. He was just not very helpful. I think it will be alittle better once it gets closer to fall.

Thanks to everyone who has replied!
