Bring...It...On!
I just got a kick out of this cartoon. The look on W's face as he loads up his shotgun is classic.
Thats histerical - and so true. Bush is more sinister and a little smarter than people take him for. He's going to beat Kerry come election time.

dd74 03-14-2004 09:27 PM

Hilarious! And very true. Kerry's early education was taken in Switzerland - hence the sword. GW's early education obviously took place in a blind. :)

vash 03-15-2004 08:22 AM

that is great! personally, i hope bush's shotgun jams.

CJFusco 03-15-2004 08:35 AM

i like kerry, but I'm not too sure if he has a chance...

BlueSkyJaunte 03-15-2004 08:41 AM

I can take him.

LOL! There's a place in the Majors for southpaws, Blue. The Dodgers need some hitters. :D

BlueSkyJaunte 03-15-2004 09:26 AM

Yeah, but they won't let me wear my skirt. ;)

(In all seriousness, though, that's a traditional right-handed grip)

CJFusco 03-15-2004 09:45 AM

very nice, BlueSky. I studied Bokken for awhile, but never graduated to the real thing.

BlueSkyJaunte 03-15-2004 10:27 AM

Thanks CJ. We actually use iaito (non-edged-but-still-pointy alloy blades) from Day 1 but don't get to handle a shinken (forged and polished in the traditional style) until after about a year. But then only for cutting--you're not allowed to use a shinken for kata until you receive your shodan certificate (4-6 years).

We only rarely use bokken (or shinai) for kumitachi-type stuff. We tend to focus mostly on kata and kenbu.

It's still a dangerous hobby--my poor 911 has to compete with my sword collection now. :( ;)

dhoward 03-15-2004 10:33 AM

"Samuri Delicatessen..."

BlueSkyJaunte 03-15-2004 10:40 AM

I does look like salami, doesn't it? Actually it's a soaked straw mat wrapped around green bamboo (to simulate flesh and bone, don't ya know).

Now if only we could get a Belushi to join the dojo...

tabs 03-15-2004 10:44 AM

Ahhhhh.....911 has too compete with sword collection....So there is somebody else who knows what I'm talking about, when I go off and buy something other than a 911 engine OH.

Kerry is just another Political Whore, who only cares about his own self agrandizment...Thats why U see the flip flops thats he's done over the years...he doesn't even own his own soul anymore...it was bought and paid for by Kennedy money...or is it now Heinz money?

At the risk of sounding like one of those wish-washy moderates, I'm not crazy about either one of these guys. I lean conservative, vote (R) most of the time, but I'm one of the whiners who is getting really uptight about W's lack of respect for civilian privacy. I know, we're at war, etc. But c'mon, wiretapping without a court order? Carnivore? TIA?

It's going to take more than Kerry to make me jump parties, though. Talk about a non-compelling candidate. Can this guy answer a yes/no question without a 1000-word speech that begins, "When I was in Vietnam..."?

BlueSkyJaunte 03-15-2004 01:35 PM

You're not alone, cowtown.

azasadny 03-16-2004 04:08 PM

Colin,
I feel the same way you do...

Leland Pate 03-16-2004 06:39 PM

We (as a population) want it all.
We want ot be perfectly safe... but will not give law enforcement and intell collection agencies the oppertunity to do what they have to do to ensure your (our) safety.

I'll give you a little tip though... the FBI doesn't care if you sleep with a goat.

Unless you are plotting the destruction of Hoover Dam, I think you are all safe from undue violations of your civil liberties.

WOODPIE 03-16-2004 06:58 PM

Leland

I'm not plotting the destruction of the Hoover Dam, but I fear that simply mentioning the thought could put me on someone's list of evil-doers. Once identified as such, I fear I would be in a world of shi*. Know what I mean?

Ed

Well, that's a relief.
