Fedex Claims

Does anyone know how difficult it is to submit and receive a claim through Fedex? How does the process work and how long does it take? Will I need an expert to tell me what the cost would be to fix the item? Thanks in advance for your input.

If it's Fedex ground then they usually send someone out to appraise the damage. In my case it was a monitor I shipped to someone.
The appraiser didn't show up 4 times. I think they make appointments and just don't go. We heard every excuse including they couldn't find the address....how ironic for an effen shipping company.
Supposedly they'll want a repair estimate as well to cost out the claim.

I finally gave up on my claim....they won.

Sccoter...

I go through this at times as we use FedEx exclusively to ship parcels. Recently, I sold a set of fenders to a fellow pelican that were damaged in shipping. THis was a bit of a fiasco as far as time frames only because it was handed off to different adjusters...in the end it worked out as it should.

The whole process should only take a week to complete and then another week to receive the compensated amount.

You are only covered up to $100 if you don't declare the actual value of the package. It's hit or miss with the inspections. Most often they will require reciepts for the pieces and ship them back to the sender.

Hope this helps.

Well, Fedex is coming tomorrow to pick up the packaging and the item to take it back to their office for inspection. A claim is being filed today. I am also in the process of getting an estimate for repairing the damage. We will see how this progresses. Fedex has told me that the claim should take 5-7 days to process. I have been told by others...good luck!

Scott, Im the guy that got the busted fenders from Jerry. There is only so much that fed-ex will allow you to do if you are not the shipper. You are are proabbly going to have to rely heavily on the shipper to handle the claim. In the case of these fenders, Jerry filed the claim and then straightened everything out when fed-ex started matching pickup numbers to incorrect tracking numbers.

Sorry Scott, Im not trying to hijack your thread or anything, but I have to take advantage of the oppurtunity to say this:

If anyone here has never had the chance to deal with Jerry St. Germaine, I'm recommending him highly. There is no way the situation with the fenders Jerry mentioned would have ever been resolved if he had not went out of his way like he did. Thanks Jerry!

I sucessfully lobbied UPS and got my insured value for a decklid I sent to a fellow Pelilcan. UPS wanted to see the packaging but it had been thrown out...the settled anyway. Just be persistent...

Fedex came by yesterday and picked up the item and packaging for "inspection". I hope to hear something by Tuesday.
