Actually, (I mentioned this on another post), Ann Coltier,on "The Scarborough Report") said that Clarke was digruntled because the "job he wanted was given to a woman; a black woman at that."

Chalk up one for the Republicans.

I have noticed that CNN, FAX, and CNBC all seem to be taking the same side in this fracas. I find that very interesting for an industry that tries to convince the public that it is fair and impartial. Just what we need: Don't fix the problem, just find out who we can blame for what.

As for Rice, I've always said that I have to hand it to the GOP, it can't be easy to find a black woman who is politically to the right of Atilla the Hun.

Never been a fan of Novak. I find Ann Coulter funny, and she's not a lot more acidic than many Lefty commentators (not that that excuses asininity from her or the other side). Still, I'd try to pick her up if I saw her in a bar...

Condi is the best; we're lucky to have her as NSA. Tho' half the time I see her I think Zula (Grace Jones) in Conan the Destroyer.

Give Novak some credit: he did break the story on someone in Bush's cabinet ratting out that CIA operative. That was a huge story.

I think Novak had a bit of a point....he implied everyone else was incompetent...but the one black woman was stupid? If the tables were turned and she was a Demoncrat...the point most certainly would have been made.

The press will only post bad pictures of Rice...just like GW, Cheney, etc. Condi Rice has already testified privately for 4 hours and offered more....she appropriately was not testifying publicly...per constitutional precedent.....unfortunately, the press and opposition politicians have convinced the ignorant public that the constitution is not relevant. She is twice the man Clarke is and will kick his ass in the hearings. He will be shown as even more of a liar and weasel than he has already.

Cheney looks exactly the same in every picture I've ever seen, and Bush pictures are flattering more than not. He's a handsome guy until that little smirk reveals his true personality. Rice is not an ugly woman at all, but she has an unfortunate furrowed brow thing that makes it look like she is attempting to put a hex on reporters.

And constitution and precedent are two different things, spin-meister, the precedent is for NSAs to testify under oath in extraordinary circumstances such as this, ie. Brezniesky(sp?), Abrams, etc..

Fact is this, 9/11, al Qaeda and Iraq are incredibly huge issues. The majority of the public believes, whether that belief has been instigated by the press or not, that discrepencies, if not out-and-out lying by the Bush Administration has gone on with all three.

Whether or not Rice has any priviledge whatsoever to NOT TESTIFY, Bush will take such a tremendous political hit if she does not testify, he may very likely lose reelection, and go down in history as a one-term loser just like his father.

Personally, I don't see what she can offer to the testimony. Nevertheless, the American public wants to hear her voice.

Novak's only point was that he was looking to use inflamatory inuendo to get a rise out of a guest on the show. Geraldoesque at its best (worst).

As you know, while Clarke was the "terrorism czar" under Clinton..al-Qaida bombed U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania as well as the USS Cole (Great job Dick!).
Then Mr Clarke's book has the audacity to claim Dr. Rice's "facial expression indicated she had never heard of al-Qaida" in 2000 (What a dumbass). Odd to assume that of the national Security Advisor... especially since Dr. Rice had worked for the the first Bush Whitehouse on security issues..been a member of the Center for International Security and Arms Control, and a senior fellow of the Institute for International Studies. a professor of political science at Stanford and had written several books and articles on foreign policy. Guess the import of title "Dr" Rice eluded Clarke.

Even the CIA is admitting that its intelligence networks are pretty blind in a lot of places like the middle east and africa.

I think he and the previous administration did exactly as you suggest....nothing..even after al-qaida attacked the Cole, a US military ship (an act of war which was enough to get us into both WW1 and WW2). Just how long did it take our current president to react after an attack on his watch.......We were kicking al-qaida ass and the folks that sheltered them in days.
