Holly gas tank, we've been screwed . . .

on-ramp 03-30-2004 06:59 PM

where is that?

VenezianBlau 87 03-30-2004 07:17 PM

Funny how the retailers cling to the increasingly insignificant "nine tenths" marketing convention.

Edit: Regular gas here in the southeast is around $1.60. At $2.00, I'll start flying rather than driving for work since the mileage rate just wont cut it for me. Also, I'm tired of the constant "wall" of tractor-trailers I encounter.

Nice premium for Full Serve! One fill up per hour and the "petroleum transfer technician's" salary is more than covered! My kind of business.

EDIT: Shoot! I just realized you might have meant "where" as for where in the country. -- I don't know. Maybe So. Cal. :(

I thought you were amazed about a gas station still offering "full" service. Ain't seen that in a while 'round here.

surflvr911sc 03-31-2004 07:16 AM

I paid $2.39 for regular unleaded two weeks ago on the way to Tahoe, ouch!

singpilot 03-31-2004 07:37 AM

That pic is from a Unocal station in Redondo Beach.

Yes, California.

fintstone 03-31-2004 07:51 AM

On the bright side...if there is one..after adjusting for inflation, gas is still cheaper than the early '80s.

CJFusco 03-31-2004 08:35 AM

2.33 for premium? We are still paying 1.97 for 93 here in CT

adamred 03-31-2004 08:51 AM

Hey, even in Jersey the price is up, but we have mandatory full serve... so now price difference...I think 93 is up to around 1.70 near my house....

fintstone 03-31-2004 09:10 AM

The difference is really amazing when you drive cross country. Some states really lay on the gas taxes, dont they?

funny, that reminds me of a friend's first date.... the next morning everyone ambushed him with questions, "did you kiss her?"
"yes"
"WHERE?!!!????"
"on the porch...."
"NO DUMBASS, where on her face?"

back on topic, we are screwed gas price-wise in california. just take you own lube to the station when you fill up. no.....the lube is not for the car!

dd74 03-31-2004 11:34 AM

Interesting anectdote. 100 octane racing gas @ Thunderhill was $5/gallone when I filled up @ 8:00am. When I topped off at 3:00 or so, they'd raised it to $5.20/gal!

Porsche-O-Phile 03-31-2004 12:27 PM

Anyone know what AvGas is going for? The 100LL (blue) stuff?

CJFusco 03-31-2004 12:32 PM

From THREE AMIGOS

Girl: "Lucky, will you kiss me on the veranda?"
Chevy Chase: (pause) "face would be fine."
