MN porsche weekend rides

Hello old friends, this is Dan from Mendota Hgts. with the green 78 911 sc with electrical problems last year. Good news, problem solved. I enjoyed our outings last summer and would like to hear from someone about future weekend drives. Contact me here or at my e mail address dmehl4285@msn.com.
And I am aware that I spelled my user name incorrectly! Crap!

Good to hear from you again. I'd begin to think you'd dropped of the planet. Joe (brown '85 Carrera) and I (black '86 Carrera) have been talking about putting something together toward the end of April. I could meet for a coffee or something before then but as far as a planned drive goes, nothing in the works other than Joe and I talking.

Nate, are you the one last year that followed me to make sure my car would make it home? Also, did you meet a wall or something unexpectedly last year I think I heard about? Porschedan

Dan,

I did follow you home when you were having the electrical issues. Glad to hear you got them fixed.

Unfortunately you are right on question number 2 as well. I did manage spin my car though I was able to catch it from going all the way around. Lightly tapped agarden planter built from retaining wall bricks. End result is a nicer car than before the incident. Repainted the whole front clip so no more rocks chips. She's back in action better than before.

In other news, I have an 11 week old daughter now as well. See how much happens when you break contact for awhile?

Keep in touch, we ought to be doing a driving meet soon.

Congratulations Nate and family! Start saving $$$$ now. My 2 boys are both graduating this spring. One out of college, the other going in. This is why I drive an old 78 911. The deal with the boys is maintain a 3.0 gpa or better and it's a free ride. Below that and Dad buys a new Porsche. I guess they don't want me to have a new Porsche before they have theirs. Stay in touch. Porschedan

Nice to have you on the board! As soon as we get the 930 back we'll be ready for the drive days too. We should be getting it in about 3 weeks from flat6. We had our gears rebuilt and also a top end rebuild...not to mention a lot of misc things too. Keep me posted! Sarah

Sarah, I saw your engine apart the last time I was at Aaron's. Are you just having the top end done? I hope nothing more serious!
That is sure a beautiful black '87!

Dan...what type of cycle did you get? Tim used to have motorcycles. His last one was a V-Max. He had tears in his eyes when he sold it and the guy was driving away. (we needed $ at the time...it was when we first got our house).

Have fun on that April 17th drive. Tim is in Vegas that weekend so I have dog sitting duties so I can't be gone all day.

But...we hope to some day get a bmw cycle. those always catch my eye. I saw a jet black one once that was decked out...looked almost like a "bat-cycle"...

Hi Mike...yes...we did get a top end rebuild. Luckily things were not in the state of us having a total rebuild...so we think all this work prevented a future bigger $$ problem. I think it is all done. I know the trani is completed. I think things are currently getting put back together in the porsche. Then we have a little more work and some fine tuning before Aaron will have it officially ready to be picked-up. I can't wait to be back behind the wheel.

Was your porsche one of the other ones there being worked on?

Mine is still covered in the garage, waiting for someone to notice it!
I'll have to get busy soon. It just needs a good cleaning, put the road wheels back on, fill 'er with some fresh benzine, and go!
Hope to meet a bunch of you MN Pelicans this summer.

Hey Dan...if you get a new louder cycle...then your neighbors will know you're coming home from blocks away too. Some good friends of ours have a Goldwing and went all over the US before they had their 2 girls. They still have it...but go on fewer drives.

Mike that would be great if you joined us on drives. That was the best part about last summer. This summer I plan on taking more porsche picture taking field trips.
