How do you burn MP3 tracks on CD?

I just installed a Blau Phoenix MP3/CD deck in the car and I'm wondering how to go about burning tracks onto a disc. I use iTunes for my iPod and can't seem to figure out how to use it for burning CDs. What program do you use? I'd like to burn my CD collection as MP3 files, not download music from the internet. Can you help? Thanks.

you burn your cds using iTunes. Pull down the iTunes menu and choose preferences. Click on the burning icon, and click on the mp3 cd button under "disk format". Then make your playlist, click the burn icon, and you're done.

Tried that but I keep getting a message that says "None of the items on this playlist can be burned on disc". What am I doing wrong?

are you sure they are mp3 files? Go to them in the finder, click once on the icon, and hit cmd-I to see what kind of file they are.

You hit the nail on the head, Nostatic. I guess when I imported them I selected AAC format not MP3 so I can't burn them on disc. Is there any way to convert them or do I start from scratch by erasing the songs from the library and re-importing as MP3?

you should be able to highlight the songs you want, then pull down the advanced menu and pick "convert selection to mp3".

OK, converted the AAC songs to MP3 (thanks for the tip on that) but am still geting the same error message. Any ideas? Do I need a special MP3 burner? I'm using a DVD/CD burner by Sony.

are you using a CD-R disk, or a CD-RW? I've had CD-RW disks give me problems before.

Is this on a Mac or PC?

Try using Nero, it's a CD burning software. I always use it and I have never had a problem with burning a CD. If you want the tracks in MP3 format using this software, then burn it as a data CD.

I'm using CD-R disks on a PC. I'd like to stay with iTunes because I've got my music already imported for my iPod. However, if I spend too much more time d***ing with this, I'm going to bite the bullet and re-import my music using another program. I don't think Mac products are any more user friendly than PC programs at this point. This is frustrating!

Aborted advice...
I take it all back, you're on a PC.

don't blame iTunes...this likely is a windoze issue. They do the best they can with what they're given...
