Will Colin Powell resign?

The man is looking increasingly unhappy with current events and not entirely in the loop. As I recall, he was a proponent of the UN inspection of Iraq for WMDs even after Bush et al gave up on such action. After that, his tune changed quite quickly in the looming days toward the invasion. Snubbed? Possibly. At odds with Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice? Hmmm... A yes man who really wants to say "No."

He holds much integrity, and, I believe, has more hands-down experience with Iraq and the Middle East than anyone onboard the Bush Administration.

I wonder if it's a matter of time before he says "Enough!" and splits. Look for him to not be around if Bush wins in Nov? I wonder...

I think if he had serious disagreement with the administration's policy, he would have already resigned. He has more money than he can spend in a lifetime and could probably name his own job and salary elsewhere. I also would not be surprised to see him leave for personal reasons. I suspect that they are grooming Rice to replace him.

I think the only reason Powell hasn't resigned is fear, fear of what Bush's foreign policy would be without him. He is the only voice of reason in the whole administration.

If only Powell's son would resign instead.

It's pretty clear he won't go for another term. I think he'll stick this one out. He must be in a world of hurt.

How do you mean? In as far as he resigning, Rice taking over as Sec. of State, such as what Stoney (Fintstone) suggested, or Powell wanting to get into public office?

Actually anyone wanting to become an elected official. Powell has nearly made it to the top. Wonder how happy he is there.

Ah yes. You're right. Remember, his wife suffers from horrible depression, which is why he decided to not run for president.

I'm sure current events has had ill effects on her, and as a consequence, him.
