What is it that makes you sick? The fact that we have troops coming back from Iraq that are seriously injured? Or the fact that MSN is publishing the story to let the public know that there is more fallout from this war than just the 600+ dead U.S. troops?

I wish more news agencies would report the fallout of war. It's like they put blinds over our eyes so we don't ger upset.

You go to any other Country and they (the media) shows the TRUE graphic scenes of war, not only of US Casualties but of other country's as well. And they ask, why is the US here?

Check out the op-ed in today's WSJ on breaking the US' political will by inflicting casualites.

The main objective in battle is to incapacitate. Not necessearily kill. More resouces consumed with injured as opposed to dead.

I'm not sure the point of this thread either. Using the military to police is like hitting a misquito with a ten pound hammer. When you get it, you leave a big hole and no misquito. When you miss you leave a big hole. Military is trained to injure or kill. That is their job. How do you stop terrorism? In my opinion, if they are dead, they are not shooting or training or ruining the lives of the next generations. If you do nothing about the current living conditions in many parts of the world, you will always have strife. Strife breeds contempt which breeds people with less to lose (better off dead than living under someone's boot) which breeds terrists.

I'm former military who was laid off in the big Reduction In Force of '92 that no one seems to remember. Over 100,000 of us, which translates into 8 divisions, which translates into the forces needed for one small conflict. Bring back the draft. Send the children of our lawmakers into combat. Nothing will change until then. Hey, I'm ranting. Sorry.

Island, that's exactly what the WSJ said today. They made reference to the Tet Offensive and how the Vietnamese even later admitted it was a huge military defeat, but had the intended effect of turning US public opinion against the war and getting LBJ out of office.

It takes a real hawk to twist the defensive actions of Iraqis into some kinda complex evil plot. Ask yourself what you would do if you were in their situation.

Im not taking sides here but I would be pissed off if I were to see the sons of GWB killed then displayed all over the news. Not to mention force our leader to hide in a hole. Then to top it all off they topled our lincoln memorial statue and put an Iraqi flag over it. Bomb the US, take out 10,000 people, which means in the small population of Iraq, that would mean it would be someone you know personally.

Unfortunately, both for the innocent civilians and for the conscience of miitary members, warfare is not as precise and surgical as we would like it to be. There will always be "collateral" damage during war.

Why do people think free speech means others must respect what they say? All it means is the gov't. can't censor you. It doesn't mean others have to keep quiet if you say something stupid. The Bill of Rights says only what the gov't. can't do. It doesn't say what I can't do.
