GW is the new Hoover

Comments
People love to compare him to Hitler or whoever else.
I think he's most camparable to Hoover: a decent president who gets the blame for something he couldnt possibly have caused or prevented. Where the preceding presidencies should be blamed for their igonrance (in the 20's the blissful ignorance was economic, in the 90's: diplomatic).
economic prosperity => bubble bursts => president after the fact gets blame
Make sense to anyone?
Unfortunately there is no FDR in the forseeable future.

I don't know about your analogy, but Aschroft is J Edgar Hoover reincarnate.

john70t 04-28-2004 06:41 AM

Just wait 'till Kerry gets elected.

The culmination of the loss of jobs/technowlogy and the rise of other economic centers, rising interest rates, the deficite, the price tag of all that military action without bringing back any bounty, the world communitys displeasure at U.S. arrogance, and the "mysterious" tripling of foreign oil prices will do a number on the U.S. economy.

Talk about a deer in the headlights. Kerry should throw the election so that Bush is written in the history books.

[edit-arrhh! I promised myself I wouldn't post in any more political threads. Dumb.Dumb.Dumb.Dumb.Dumb]

Given the freaky secret lives of other religious figures, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. The general rule of thumb is: the more vocally pious on the outside, the more f*cked up and twisted on the inside.

This is one of my conspiracy theories - GW's plan is to fsck the country up so bad, nobody else will want the job of president, knowing the shiites will hit the fan on their watch.

You can tell a lot about Bush's true nature by the people he appoints and surrounds himself with. It really gives lie to the old, "good ol' boy from Texas/I'm a uniter not a divider" bull*****, doesn't it? Anything to get elected, so that he can unleash the real deal.

The "real deal" is in the form of Ashcroft, and some court appointees that get the thumbs up from the KKK and plutonium dumpers. Ashcroft is a freak..., there were plenty of "coming attractions" on him, like not allowing dancing at his senate inauguration in Missouri, , or spending $$thousands in taxpayer money to drape over a statue of lady justice at DOJ, a statue which didn't offend your grandparents. He's a real winner.

But what happens if you throw FDR, GWB, Kerry, and a midget into a dark room together? Does it make a difference if they're all wearing flapper-style dresses? Is the room exo- or endothermic?

Just trying to take the sting out of reading another stinking political thread that I shouldn't have gotten involved in ...

ronin 04-28-2004 02:03 PM

well, suppose we should get back to throwing midgets :D

Aurel 04-28-2004 05:36 PM

Hey, I was the father of midget throwing in the mother of all threads !
Now, I`d like to share my latest find:

speeder: "Ashcroft is a freak..., there were plenty of "coming attractions" on him, like not allowing dancing at his senate inauguration in Missouri"

Remember, Ashcroft was beaten in his Senatorial campaign by a guy who had been dead for three weeks. Familiarity breeds...
