My wife's mother has a '95 Olds Ninety Eighty, w/ 81k on the odo it has served her well, with few problems. She just bought a new Deville (the Northstar engine is nice). I talked her into keeping the Ninety Eight.

I think it is a shame GM gave up on the Olds line. Most of the new Saturns will be from the Olds designs. IMO they should have dropped Saturn and kept Oldsmobile.

This is off the OLDS topic, but..

Saturn started out as a good concept: an American brand that was well made(i.e. no obviously stupid recalls), semi-good gas milage, and will do 120-130 for a long time in a strait line(so will a Neon). http://www.saturnperformance.com/stuff/video

It is sad seeing a good lineage of manufacturing being "downsized", but if the workers can be placed EQUALLY elsewhere and the company as a whole remains strong, then all power to 'em.

Nope...you got it. Wasn't my first car, but definitely one of my favorites. '72 442 drop top. The marque really went to hell after '77, thank you Generic Motors.

my dad had a Buick LeSaber. Worst car I ever drove.

Yeah- my olds had 148K on it, the engine was still strong as hell, no leaks or noises or anything. Too bad the transmission had to get replaced. Luckily, replacements are as close as your nearest junkyard. Also- how can they get a 3.8L v-6 in a car that huge to pull off 28mpg. Legitimately, and I wasn't babying the throttle either.

Oh- and THAT car had an A/C in it that could freeze yer fingers.
