ok ok, my respect for you Z-man hasn't been lost. I'm sorry about my quick reaction. I just always thought this BBS was about people coming together over the internet to discuss what humans discuss; everyday activities and real life situations. Street racing (although I dont personally agree with it either) is a real life situation and I like to hear everyone's opinion on it, for I value each person's opinion on this board. I like to think of this board as a place where I can get a valued opinion on any topic that life presents (I guess I was wrong). Exchanging opinions is what makes people stronger and more educated about what life throws at you.
So in response to the particular issue discussed in this thread, I just dont see why anyone would want to completely shut down a topic of this nature. Why ignore what is happening our there? Its sure not going to solve or shed light on the issues that are occuring. Are we all in pre school here? NO! so why not express our minds. As I mentioned im not a fan of street racing but I'd sure like hear peoples experiences. If anywhere I thought it could be discussed it would be here. Bummer, :( I do however understand that the US is very "sue happy" now days and you really gotta CYOA. If this is the main reason for all the regulations and very strict PG rated decisions made in moderating here then I had no right to loose any respect for the Z-man, for he has no control, just doing his job. Its like a cop giving you a ticket... they're simply doing a job for higher levels. You cant get down on them, just the system. Also: on the topic of children being exposed to this BBS and getting ill ideas form us. Come on. Reading a post like 1fast...'s is no more going to encourage a teen to go street racing than every car action movie out there. IMO parents are the ones who need to make sure their kids don't get ill influences from outside sources. So if they dont want their kids searching for porn or reading street racing stories on the PPBBS then they should be the ones doing the moderating. Alright, im done ramblin now. Wait... not yet... I've got an idea. Could we create a forum where anything goes? You know, for after that hard day at work and a couple of beers later. We could all sign waivers and somehow verify our ages so that no lawsuits would take place. |
Did someone say "breast"????

Just to throw in with the whole no street racing thing. I was driving on route 10 from el paso, TX to las cruces, NM at 3 in the morning. I highly doubt there is all that much risk in doing so on a deserted highway at 3 in the morning except maybe to myself (the idiot did swerve while shifting which makes me think that he must not be used to torque steer).
The sources that i've read, tdiclub.com, say that after chipping a 90 hp motor you'll yield 115hp and 195 lbs/ft of torque. Sorry i screwed up with the tdi hp years. And this wasn't a real street racing story, this was comedy to take the boredom out of driving on a long flat highway in the middle of the night. Plus it felt good considering how often people tell me that my over priced, over weight german car (the 911) will be demolished by any of the japenese automobile arsenal. While that may be true for some instances, i don't think people have been giving any credit to european vehicles lately. If you want to hear about a street race, then i can open up the stories when i used to own a red 951. :D Just to emphasize this, the only life i've ever risked while behind the wheel so far has been my own. Everyone is a kid at heart, and at some point while being a kid has done a little street racing. If you want to talk about risk, you should see how many people run the stop sign next to my house doing about 40mph  . BTW, i read today that the lotus elise goes on sale for the 2005 year at 40k dollars. 1975lbs, 190hp toyota 1.8L 4 cylinder. Any opinions? |
i used to drive that highway all the time, you were damn safe. i dont even remember any turns for the most part. i dont think the fast offerings from japan will be found in EP. in the bay area, LOOK OUT! my "ricer" friend just supercharged his totally stock looking 4 door integra. it is scary fast. i invited the smart talking little schit along to our next bay area run so ZOANAS and DANTHECAT can make mince meat out of him. i still believe curvey turns are the great equalizer. he installed this exhaust bypass that is activated with a electric switch, talk about loud. riding in his car, at full volume rattles my intestines so much that i usually have to go and take a dump.

More beer on OT! Put that in your moderating pipe and smoke it Z-man! ;) |

www.offtopic.net. <-- Basically, an anything goes forum. And check out the OT forums on Rennlist: (http://forums.rennlist.com) while it is not anything goes, it's a bit looser than here. And you still have mostly a Porsche crowd there. ----------------------------------------------- Quote:
Motion: it was just a personal request. I am sure if I searched the OT threads, I could come up with others writing or implying the same thing. Just like everyone here, I have a right to my opinion, right? My opinion is that I don't want to read about street racing here. Granted, as a moderator, I may have a little more influence in what folks post here, but like I said, I didn't lock down or delete this thread -- that would be abusing my moderator priveliges. -------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for the supporting words. And for keeping me on my toes! (Who moderates the moderators anyway?!?) Now I gotta go find me a Honda to race! -Zoltan. |
Wow all this over some rice - just remember - stir well and steam for about 20 minutes -

Actually, there are a few quick little street racing cars that come here to NMSU. What i've seen so far, brand new lancer evo, mildly modified wrx sti (monster looking intercooler upfront and a really loud exhaust), some other stock sti's, an r32 gti, and i had the doors blown off my stock 944 by what seemed like a turbocharged prelude (whistling sound and small black puff out the exhaust kind of give it away).
