Any one own a 1999 MB C43 AMG??
I'm finally dumping the Suburban and the wife and I just looked at a '99 MB C43 AMG. Mileage is 47000 and asking price is fair and negotiable. Car is clean and well maintained with records. I need some guidance, as last MB I owned was an '86 420 SEL. Drove it till it needed one alternator at 225,000 miles. She likes the car fine, but I'm unsure of it's looks. Thanks.

A post 95 MB won't shake a stick at any early MB. Quality has gone downhill big time.

I have a C36 and it is an awesome car. Best 4 dr sedan I have ever driven. The C43 should have the 5 spd box which is one of the only downfalls in mine.
Brakes and suspension are both great (excellent compromise between handling and performance for an every day car. |
I experienced a MB quality glitch last week. Went to the local dealer to test drive the '04 C230 Sport Sedan - the only 6spd within 100 miles. The car was unloaded off the truck that AM ... wasn't even preped yet. I hop in with the sales guy in the pass seat and try to put my seatbelt on ... no go. The tensioner was stuck. He tried for 10 minutes to free it up, but it wouldn't budge. They had to overnight replacement parts from Germany to fix it.
I was a little shocked at this obvious quality glitch (don't they check the belts before shipping?), but I really liked the car. My first MB drive and I loved it. Cheaper than my Explorer too. |
I have a 1999 C230 Kompressor. Best MB yet. I also have an 87 420SEL, and a 83 380SL.
The '99 is the last year of that body style, and the QC probs seemed to start with the '00's. Go for it. You won't regret it. |
Not a MB owner, but I had run across this site in the past. Might want to take a look:
