A little background on our buddy Saddam -- set to music

It's commonly known that the U.S. helped to put Saddam in place by giving him support and weapons. But few know the whole story.

So some will find this to be new information:

Well, that was a refreshing unbiased little stroll down memory lane.

This deserves a bump -

These perspectives of the US are frequently those seen by the people outside of it's borders...

Funny, I thought we bombed some other piece of dirt for the 9-11 attacks.
Just remember:

I am sure a few neocons will chime in to state that these US supported despots are a neccessary evil.

I'm a conservative (fiscal), there's no question that U.S. foreign policy is a joke. We supply arms to whom ever will get in bed with us and sell us oil. We supported Saddam, Papa Doc, Noriega, Pinochet, Allende' The Shah, and a host of others, who then "turned" into our enemy. Its like the book "1984" those who were our friends are now our enemies and the government acts like there's nothing strange going on. We give Isreal $10 million a day, each and every day! Why? so we have a "friendly" foothold in the mid-east, and because many politically powerful people in Washington support Isreal. The U.S. should get out of most of these countries and let them butcher themselves. The money they spend on foreign "aid" could be better used domestically. And I'm a republican.

"I'm a conservative (fiscal), there's no question that U.S. foreign policy is a joke."

I'm a Liberal whos a fiscal conservative (that's why I hate politicians who pose as fiscally conservative and triple the national debt).

And I completely agree with you on the list of baddies we supported, plus the Shah. The entire history of State Department decisions reads like a program to make much of the world hate us as supporters of oppression.

I think we sincerely attempt to do the right thing the majority of instances.

It's all a reallly big bag of *unintended consequences.*
