New axe and amp

Other than Porsche's and women...one of my biggest passions is music, and guitars. Ive decided to get back into it after a bit of a layoff...so yesterday, I purchased a new Fender Strat for some extra fun.

It is the Clapton Signature model Strat. Normally, Im not into hero worship and didnt buy this model due to Claptons name on the headstock...but of all of the Strats in the store that I played, this one sounded huge, clear and sweet. The noiseless pickups are just great. This is my first Strat, and first guitar with a maple neck.

I also own a 92 Tele Deluxe Plus, Washburn 335, Schecter C-7+, Martin D-1, Fender Dobro, Fender P-Bass Deluxe Lyte and an old Gibson EB0 bass.

My amps are original tweed Fender Blues Deville and a little Marshall combo that just screams. I have all kinds of pedals effects etc.

Sam Ash has a promo this weekend, where they are giving away a free Guitar Research half-stack amp with every Am. Fender Strat! So, I got this free amp with the guitar...it actually sounds good and may come in handy someday or to use in jams.

See pics below.

I had a Clapton model strat that I bought new in '88. It was a great guitar, and I got it to replace my 58 neck/63 body guitar that had been ruined by a repair place in town (gouged the back of the neck). You can get a pretty fat (ie non-strat) sound by cranking the boost. The Lace Sensors don't quite have the chime of Fralins or real pre-CBS pu's, but they are quiet and do the job.

As for amps, all I can say is don't play a Bogner. Unless you have a spare $2500 lying around...

You win.

I have an Aria Pro II, and my only amp is a Fender Stereo Pak with headphones, so no one can hear me amaze myself with the four chords I know.

I may not be good, but I'm enjoying my incompitance.

hey nostatic... that was the older version that you had. They redid the Clapton strat for this year. It no longer has the Lace Sensors, but it has "noisless" Fender pickups and some kind of active 25db midrange boost. Its awesome. I image there is a battery there under the pickguard.

hay on-ramp...thats a beautiful Les Paul. Just like Jimi Page plays. I used to have a Les Paul, but sold it. It just wasnt for me...a little too butt-heavy. I like butt heavy cars, but not guitars... lol. But, Les Pauls are classics and most people just love them.

Dantilla....you only need to know 4 chords to jam out on ....Smoke On the Water :) or a million other songs too.
