New Voting age?
 

I have been rather supprised that on Nickeloden during morning cartoons they have MTV Choose of loose voting ads. I was thinking that the voting age was 18. Has it changed? Are Jimmy Nutron watchers the target voting market? My 3 and 6 year old arent planning on voting anytime soon. am I missing somthing here?

I guess the demographics for Nick viewers must include more 18 y/o's than we might expect. The voting age is still 18.

I would think they would be at work or school at 9 am on a weekday morning. But I could be wrong.

It is targeted at the 20-40 year old liberal demographic.

I think stations try to run those mandated public service ads when they can't fill the time with paying advertisers, or whenever they will lose the least by running them, regardless of audience.

That said, our brilliant Democratic State Legislature has proposed lowering the voting age to 14. Now that we've solved all our other problems, we can start up with the pet projects. :rolleyes:

These are not PSA's they are commericals and slanted left at that. I guess the dems know thier voters are not watching the news stations so the best place to advertise to them is to do it on the TV channles they watch. Nick.

...Sen. John Vasconcellos on Monday introduced a bill that would allow anyone 14 or older to vote -- at least fractionally -- starting as early as 2006.

The proposal, which would grant people ages 16 and 17 a half-vote and those who are 14 and 15 a quarter-vote, is the final legislative push by the termed-out San Jose Democrat, an unapologetic liberal and the father of California's self-esteem movement.

"We're just children, or that's what some people think," said Victoria Martinez, 14, of San Jose, who supports the bill. "But we do have minds and political views."

that's just absolutely assinine. giving individuals with no life experience the ability to vote. what a nice way for dems to stack the votes in their favor

The voting age should be RAISED to about 30... we are the ones paying all the tax money thats being spent by the politicians, we should have a greater input to who is spending our money

Are you saying I don't pay taxes? How do you know I don't pay more taxes than you? I own a home, two cars, and have a job all I do is pay taxes.

FYI the top 1% on the economic scale pay 50% of the taxes in the USA. So should their votes count more than others since they give the gov't more money?

To vote you should have to be a contributor somehow I agree.

I thought the framers intended for land owners only to vote. Boy would that change the voter base.
