trying to not eat meat!
not that easy! i am lifting weights so i do allow myself lean fish and seafood. i am doing it out of curiousity mostly. funner in the kitchen for sure. i like the challenge of trying to make a bunch of tofu and veggies satisfying.
tough part is i promised some friends a standing rib roast. tuff to cook that and not dig in. |
Stay with it if you really want to go that route. Once you start eating good stuff your body will lose its craving for junk. I've been veg. for 14+ years and no regrets at all. Don't miss it one bit.

My Wife's a veg and we don't keep meat in the house. I only have it at lunch or when we go out. Try Seitan as a meat substitute as well - it's good stuff.
She makes this chili with it - man is it ever good... |

If you were in LA a few resturants I would recommend are;
Avotre Sante Real Food Daily <-Freaking Awesome |
but (bacon) meats soo dam good (roastbeef). with (tri-tip)war and (pork loin) world events (BBQ chicken) will i live long enough (pork chops and apple sause) to get any value from going veggie (sausage)?
i will bring some beef jerky on sunday cliff should you become weakened by the stress and energy you will exhert during the drive. cant have a driver all weak and dizzy on a mines run. |
Do you remember when we heard that lead was being removed from fuels? Predictions of gloom and doom.
After you lose the cravings (after about 2 months) it seems almost normal. |
between us all here, i dont think my girlfriend can hack it. smart money is that she caves first. i made my first platter of eggplant parmegian (spelling?) and it came out kickin A! tonight is veggie kabobs with that bulgar wheat, tomato, mint...salad. i cant remember the name.
like i said the cooking part is fun. |
Go to a decent "health food" store and check out some of the frozen meat-replacements. Morningstar Farms has some teriffic stuff (loved the Buffalo Wings w/ ranch dressing). So does Boca. One of the burgers ("Grillers") tasted so much like beef to me that I couldn't eat them.
Diagnosed with gluten intolerance, though, so all of that stuff is off-limits to me now. |
Like Chris Rock said...
"Don't eat no red meat? Don't eat no GREEN meat!" |

Hey...I too have been a vegetarian. Not for more than 1 day in a row ;) but I do definitely agree that meatless cuisine can be tasty, interesting and satisfying.
Having a son who is allergic to soy (and just about everything else in the universe) puts a major damper on going veggie. Unless you have made a habit of label-reading, you would have no idea how many consumer food products contain "soylent green"! (Hint -- infinity minus 3 is pretty close.) |
Ruth's Chris, anyone??

I'm going to lunch now.
