Attention Runners, gift advice needed

My sister and her husband are marathon training right now, her husband just ran the brutal Boston this year. Poor guy trained for over a year then had to run in 85 deg with humidity....but I digress.

My sister's 3oth bday is this weekend and we're struggling with a gift idea. Is there such a thing as a watch or other small device that accurately tracks you actual distance traveled that will withstand sweat, training etc?

Anyone have any recommendations or sources? Thanks.

It's called pedometer it measures your steps. You need to set it according to your stride for an accurate measure of distance. They are $10-$30 at a sporting goods store, or free now with your purchase of a diet meal at McDonalds.

Consider getting one that does multiple functions like distance, time, and pulse rate.

hell, if they are training, i bet money they already have all the heart monitors and everything. what about a nice sports message for two? call around at some spas, you will be surprised at some deals found on weekdays. if i just huffed my arse anywhere in the double digit mileage, i would want a massage.

Actually my brother in law mentioned the pedometer as a gift just didn't know if anyone had any specific brands, etc that they would recommend, although with the happy meal special i could save the cash for some 8's or 9's...lol

funny, all the runners i know have every conceivable distance between two points measured in distance, memorized. get the 7 and 8's. long distance runners are freaky anyways. besides, they will outlive us anyways. j/k.
